Symmetry adaptation techniques are applied to the determination of intensities of intra-configurational two-photon transitions for transition-metal ions in cu-bical symmetry. This leads to a simple model giving the polarization dependence of intensities of two-photon (electric dipolar) transitions between Stark levels of the configuration 3d N (N = even or odd).

Kagomé compounds containing two transition metal ions, Co(II) and Ni(II), in different proportions have been synthesized, and their magnetic properties have been found to exhibit interesting differences.

Recent research has revealed that trace metals, particularly transition metals, play important roles in marine productivity. Most of the work has been on iron, which shows a nutrient-depleted profile in the upper ocean. Marine organisms have a variety of means for acquiring iron and other transition metal ions that differ from those of terrestrial organisms.

change is the greatest. Indeed, in that orientation the C3 hydroxyl group is directed toward the acetamido group (rather than away from it), and the intramolecular interactions stabilizing such an orientation would become more significant as the solvent polarity is lowered. Evidence supporting such a hypothesis, independent of the present theoretical model, is presented in Table 11, which displ...

Attachment of a laterally non-symmetric cryptand and a macrocycle at the 9- and 10-positions of anthracene leads to a fluorescent signaling system L1 which gives fluorescence enhancement in the simultaneous presence of alkali and transition metal ions.

— The overall stoichiometry compensation through transition ion valency changes has been studied in CuGaS2. For this purpose, Ni and Fe were used as ionic sensors of the matrix state, as these impurities are already present in the as-grown material. The valency changes could be observed either by electron spin resonance or Mossbauer absorption. With increasing sulphur content, the valency of Fe...

The discovery of transition metal catalysis in polymerization reactions more than 50 years ago has lead to modern organometallic chemistry and has revolutionized the world of catalysis and polymers. Since then catalyst improvement and functional group tolerant catalysts paved the way for new applications and commercialization of polymers. Due to the commercial success of polymers macromolecular...

The large values of spin relaxation enhancement (RE) for PC spin-labels in the phospholipid membrane induced by paramagnetic metal salts dissolved in the aqueous phase can be explained by Heisenberg spin exchange due to conformational fluctuations of the nitroxide group as a result of membrane fluidity, flexibility of lipid chains, and, possibly, amphiphilic nature of the nitroxide label. Wheth...
