Here, we present evidence that the alleged correction of the typification of Tradescantia crassula recently proposed by Pellegrini, Forzza and Sakuragui is erroneous. Furthermore, we clarify misconceptions concerning the epitype of T. crassula, the specimen B-100521014, which was collected by Friedrich Sello in southern Brazil, and is not original material for T. crassula.
Triticum mosaic virus (TriMV) and High plains (HPV), identified recently, have been considered among the major viruses that affect wheat. Carried by same vector, wheat curl mite, both of these cause yellowing stunting plants which are very similar to many other attacking This makes it difficult detect in different lines, posing a problem yield. paper highlights addition two multiplex RT-PCR bas...
Sugarcane cultivation is hindered by several biotic constraints of which viral disease plays a major disaster. This study was carried out to evaluate the virus situation sugarcane germplasm in western Cameroon, consisting three regions (Southwest, Northwest and West region). A survey 66 villages these regions. Landraces identified included SMU58, SBK36, SNC16, NBfPc48 NBfAg53. Representative sa...
Brakke, M. K., Skopp, R. N., and Lane, L. C. 1990. Degradation of wheat streak mosaic virus capsid protein during leaf senescence. Phytopathology 80:1401-1405. Wheat streak mosaicvirwscapsid protein degraded in vivo by proteolysis rnented slightly more slowly than those with 45 kDa protein. Antiserum as leaves senesced. The capsid protein of virus purified from young systemto intact virions, co...
Variation within the Type and Sidney 81 strains of wheat streak mosaic virus was assessed by single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis and confirmed by nucleotide sequencing. Limiting-dilution subisolates (LDSIs) of each strain were evaluated for polymorphism in the P1, P3, NIa, and CP cistrons. Different SSCP patterns among LDSIs of a strain were associated with single-nucleotide...
Wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV) is an eriophyid mite-transmitted virus of the genus Tritimovirus, family Potyviridae. Complete deletion of helper component-proteinase (HC-Pro) has no effect on WSMV virulence or disease synergism, suggesting that a different viral protein suppresses RNA silencing. RNA silencing suppression assays using Nicotiana benthamiana 16C plants expressing GFP were conduc...
The Palouse Prairie of eastern Washington was identified in the 1997 USDA National Resources Inventory as one of the most highly erodible areas in the United States. It is estimated that 10% of the original topsoil in eastern Washington has been lost since cultivation began in the region in the late 1800s (32). Furthermore, runoff from agricultural land reduces water quality in streams and rive...
