Engagement of the T cell antigen receptor (TCR) results in activation of several tyrosine kinases leading to tyrosine phosphorylation of protein substrates and activation of multiple biochemical pathways. TCR-mediated activation of the src-family kinases, Lck and Fyn, results in tyrosine phosphorylation of the TCR zeta and CD3 chains. The site of phosphorylation in these chains is the tyrosine-...

Previous studies have suggested that 1) atypical protein kinase C (PKC) isoforms are required for insulin stimulation of glucose transport, and 2) 3-phosphoinositide-dependent protein kinase-1 (PDK-1) is required for activation of atypical PKCs. Presently, we evaluated the role of PDK-1, both in the activation of PKC-zeta, and the translocation of epitope-tagged glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) to...

In this note, we describe various theoretical results, numerical computations, and speculations concerning the analytic properties of the Shintani zeta functions associated to the space of binary cubic forms. We describe how these zeta functions almost fit into the general analytic theory of zeta and L-functions, and we discuss the relationship between this analytic theory and counting problems...

We study a polynomial interpolation of finite multiple zeta and zeta-star values with variable $t$, which is an analogue interpolated introduced by Yamamoto. introduce several relations among them and, in particular, prove the cyclic sum formula, Bowman--Bradley type weighted formula. The harmonic relation, shuffle duality derivation relation are also presented.

For a d-dimensional real hyperbolic manifold with cusps, we obtain more refined error terms in the prime geodesic theorem (PGT) using the Ruelle zeta function instead of the Selberg zeta function. To do this, we prove that the Ruelle zeta function over this type manifold is a meromorphic function of order d over C.

This article improves the estimate of the size of the definite integral of S(t), the argument of the Riemann zeta-function. The primary application of this improvement is Turing’s Method for the Riemann zeta-function. Analogous improvements are given for the arguments of Dirichlet L-functions and of Dedekind zeta-functions.

Overexpression of the PED/PEA-15 protein in muscle and adipose cells increases glucose transport and impairs further insulin induction. Like glucose transport, protein kinase C (PKC)-alpha and -beta are also constitutively activated and are not further stimulatable by insulin in L6 skeletal muscle cells overexpressing PED (L6(PED)). PKC-zeta features no basal change but completely loses insulin...

The first 10 residues within the Src homology domain (SH)-4 domain of the Src family kinase Fyn are required for binding to the immune receptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM) of T cell receptor (TCR) subunits. Recently, mutation of glycine 2, cysteine 3, and lysines 7 and 9 was shown to block binding of Fyn to TCR zeta chain ITAMs, prompting the designation of these residues as an ITAM ...

In this article, we introduce a systematic new method to investigate the conjectural p-adic meromorphic continuation of Professor Bernard Dwork’s unit root zeta function attached to an ordinary family of algebraic varieties defined over a finite field of characteristic p. After his pioneer p-adic investigation of the Weil conjectures on the zeta function of an algebraic variety over a finite fi...

The double zeta function was first studied by Euler in response to a letter from Goldbach in 1742. One of Euler’s results for this function is a decomposition formula, which expresses the product of two values of the Riemann zeta function as a finite sum of double zeta values involving binomial coefficients. Here, we establish a q-analog of Euler’s decomposition formula. More specifically, we s...
