A 32-GHz coupled-cavity maser design is described. The theory and the predicted performance of cavity masers are included. A coupling cavity in the signal waveguide enables tuning of the maser over the 500-MHz-wide deep-space frequency allocation from 31.8 GHz to 32.3 GHz. The ruby cavity is simultaneously resonant at 32 GHz in the TE101 mode and at the pump frequency of 66.4 GHz in the TE301 m...
In this paper, a D-band power amplifier (PA) based on 0.5-μm InP DHBT is presented. Wilkinson combiners with broadband stepped-impedance matching are used, and the eight-way PA is designed for wideband power performance. As input power is fixed at 3 dBm, the PA exhibits a saturated output power of 16.8 dBm and 7.9% PAE at 150 GHz with >45-GHz 3-dB power bandwidth from 125 GHz to 170 GHz. Meanwh...
In this paper a design of triple band one turn helical antenna without ground plain for center frequency of 2.4 GHz, 3.6 GHz, and 5.4 GHz is discuss. These frequencies are selected such that the antenna radiate for continuous band of 2 GHz to 6.8 GHz frequency with variable gain. The purpose of this novel design is to enhance the gain as well as bandwidth. The triple band is achieved by three c...
Design of a simple and compact microstrip-fed printed monopole antenna (PMA) for applications in wireless local area network (WLAN) and radio frequency identification (RFID) is presented. The dual-band operation is achieved from the 9-shaped folded antenna which is printed on a non-conductor backed dielectric. Measured percentage impedance bandwidth of the PMA at the center frequencies of 2.43 ...
In this paper we present coplanar MMICs based on both, metamorphic (MHEMT) and pseudomorphic (PHEMT) high electron mobility transistor technologies. Starting with a modulator-driver MMIC for optical transmission systems, we describe state of the art MMICs like a 94 GHz low-noise amplifier, a 35 GHz and a 60 GHz medium power amplifier and finally we demonstrate the feasibility of a monolithicall...
The Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) has been used to make the first full polarization observations of 6.7 GHz methanol masers. Linear polarization was detected towards all four sources observed, at levels between a few and 10%, while none of the sources show circular polarization stronger than approximately 1.5%. Linear polarization appears to be more common in the 6.7 GHz methanol mas...
A fully integrated single-ended output pushpush oscillator is realized using an advanced 0.2μm SiGe HBT process. Up to –5 dBm output power is achieved at 180 GHz using a technology with a transition frequency fT of 200 GHz and maximum oscillation frequency fMAX of 275 GHz. Preliminary phase noise measurements show a phase noise of less than –90 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from the 180 GHz carrier.
The generation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states is a crucial problem in quantum information. We derive general conditions for obtaining GHZ states as eigenstates of a Hamiltonian. We find that a necessary condition for an n-qubit GHZ state to be a nondegenerate eigenstate of a Hamiltonian is the presence of m-qubit couplings with m≥[(n+1)/2]. Moreover, we introduce a Hamiltonian with...
Ultra-wideband (UWB) signals originated from research and development work on high resolution radiofrequency (RF) radar systems in the 1950-60s. The current FCC regulations in the US, define a UWB signal as having an absolute bandwidth which exceeds 500 MHz or fractional bandwidth over 20%. The FCC frequency band assigned to UWB systems extends from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz, i.e. a bandwidth of 7.5 ...
A novel 180◦ hybrid is proposed, based on a modified Gysel power combiner, using phase shifter and ground bridge for the difference output. Also the Defected Microstrip Structure has been used to increase the hybrid’s phase matching. All steps of the design are simulated using HFSS 11 and the final design is validated by the fabrication. It has good results between 7 GHz to 10 GHz and can be us...
