This paper presents a method for acquiring a concession strategy of an agent in multi-issue negotiation. This method learns how to make a concession to an opponent for realizing win-win negotiation. To learn the concession strategy, we adopt reinforcement learning. First, an agent receives a proposal from an opponent. The agent recognizes a negotiation state using the difference between their p...

Recent theory suggests that action prediction relies of a motor emulation mechanism that works by mapping observed actions onto the observer action system so that predictions can be generated using that same predictive mechanisms that underlie action control. This suggests that action prediction may be more accurate when there is a more direct mapping between the stimulus and the observer. We t...

We consider discrete one-dimensional Schrödinger operators with Sturmian potentials. For a fullmeasure set of rotation numbers including the Fibonacci case we prove absence of eigenvalues for all elements in the hull.

We investigate how eTwinning, the community for schools in Europe that promotes teacher and school collaboration through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), has grown in its first five years. eTwinning currently attracts over 130’000 teachers in Europe who can be identified as “innovators” in using ICTs in cross-border school collaboration projects. Using the indicator ...

Recent theoretical and empirical work has suggested an important role for the motor system in generating predictions about the timing of external events. We tested the hypothesis that motor experience with an observed action changes how observers generated predictions about these actions by comparing the performance of naïve and experienced observers on a task that required participants to pred...

We review the status of hybrid baryons. The only known way to study hybrids rigorously is via excited adiabatic potentials. Hybrids can be modelled by both the bag and flux–tube models. The low–lying hybrid baryon is N 1 2 + with a mass of 1.5 − 1.8 GeV. Hybrid baryons can be produced in the glue–rich processes of diffractive γN and πN production, Ψ decays and p¯ p annihilation.

A Bayesian method is developed for estimating neural responses to stimuli, using likelihood functions incorporating the assumption that spike trains follow either pure Poisson statistics or Poisson statistics with a refractory period. The Bayesian and standard estimates of the mean and variance of responses are similar and asymptotically converge as the size of the data sample increases. Howeve...

Synchronized neuronal ring has been reported in many neural systems and may play a role in the representation of sensory stimuli and the modi cation of sensory representations by both experience and attention. In this report we describe a bootstrap procedure for computing the statistical signi cance of changes in the degree of synchrony and apply it to recordings from the second somatosensory (...

High-School human capital investment occurs within a competitive environment, and Affirmative Action (AA) shapes the relative competition between blacks and whites for admission to high-quality colleges. We present a theory of AA in university admissions and conduct a field experiment to mimic aspects of competition for college. We offer relative incentives to study math and track students’ tim...

We give a direct computational proof of N = 2 Seiberg duality for arbitrary quivers, and find the action on the Fayet-Iliopoulos parameters. We also find a new analogous classical duality for Kähler potentials of N = 1 quivers that generalizes the trivial duality Gr(N,N+M) ≃ Gr(M,N+M) for Grassmannians.
