We study the Aharonov-Bohm effect in a coupled 2×2 quantum dot array with two-terminals. A striking conductance dip arising from the Fano interference is found as the energy levels of the intermediate dots are mismatched, which is lifted in the presence of a magnetic flux. A novel five peak structure is observed in the conductance for large mismatch. The Aharonov-Bohm evolution of the linear co...
Response of the electronic current through an Aharonov-Bohm ring after a two-level-system is switched on is calculated perturbatively by use of non-equilibrium Green function. In the ballistic case the amplitude of the Aharonov-Bohm oscillation is shown to decay to a new equilibrium value due to scattering into other electronic states. Relaxation of Altshuler-AronovSpivak oscillation in diffusi...
I construct a minimal formalism to describe transport in the presence of non local correlations arising when a superconductor is in contact with several ferromagnetic electrodes. Transport theory is expressed in terms of single site effective Green’s functions. I show how to subtract a fake current contribution appearing in this formalism. I propose a new Aharonov-Bohm experiment intended to de...
We present a review and discussion of the physical meaning of the vector potential in electromagnetism by means of a classical experiment in which a long solenoid, connected to a sinusoidal voltage supply, produces an electric field and a vector potential in a circuit exterior to the solenoid itself. Some basic considerations are recalled concerning the meaning of action-at-a-distance and local...
We present a simple model of transmission across a metallic mesoscopic ring. In one of its arm an electron interacts with a single magnetic impurity via an exchange coupling. We show that entanglement between electron and spin impurity states leads to reduction of Aharonov-Bohm oscillations in the transmission coefficient. The spin-conductance is asymmetric in the flux reversal as opposed to th...
An experiment that would measure non–commuting quantum mechanical observables without collapsing the wave function has been recently proposed by Y Aharonov and J Anandan. These authors argue that this " protected measurement " may give indication on " the reality of the wave function ". We argue that, depending of the precise version of the experiment considered, either the author's prediction ...
