Background: Myocardial infarction (MI) is one of the most common and serious diseases resulting from coronary artery occlusion and major reduction in blood flow. Streptokinase as a thrombolytic is considered the first and most important therapeutic intervention for reperfusion following MI in most countries including Iran. Our previous study showed that, the prevalence of high antibody titers a...

BACKGROUND: Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a toxic metaboliteproduced by Aspergillus species that contaminates a wide range ofagricultural products. OBJECTIVES: This study was designed todevelop a rapid and highly sensitive immunoassay method inmicroarray format for quantitative detection of AFB1 to evaluatethe potential of microarray platform for high-throughput screening, which can be beneficial in fo...

The performance of a norovirus antigen detection assay was assessed using monoclonal antibody NV23 and single-chain antibody HJT-R3-A9 to identify both virus-like particles and virus-containing fecal samples. The detection of 25 different norovirus genotypes as recombinant virus-like particles or in clinical samples was dependent on virus or antigen concentration.

Leishmaniasis is an important and common zoonotic disease with a great impact on public health. In the present study, a total of 195 companion cats of different ages were examined for serum antibody detection against Leishmania infantum by immunochromatography assay. The cats were selected from those referring to Veterinary Hospital of Ahvaz University, south west of Iran from May 2009 to March...

Background: Toxoplasmosis is a zoonotic disease with high seroprevalence worldwide. Several immunological methods have been described for diagnosis of toxoplasmosis. Objective: To determine the parasitemia period in patients infected with toxoplasma using PCR and comparing serological data with molecular results. Methods: 154 serum samples from patients with toxoplasmosis were examined. Presenc...

Background: In spite of available, and sensitive screening assay for detection of hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg), occasional cases of post-transfusion hepatitis B virus infection are still observed. The aim of the present study was to assess the prevalence of positive anti hepatitis B core (anti-HBc) and presence of HBV-DNA in serum sample of healthy blood donors negative for both HB...

Definitive diagnosis of brucellosis is made by isolation of the causative agents, which is a timeconsumingprocedure. To evaluate the efficacy of Dot-ELISA for detecting brucellae in clinical samples, 94different specimens taken from animal origin were cultured on brucella selective culture media and colonieswere identified biochemically. The specimens were also examined after centrifugation by ...

Several diagnostic methods including immunofluorescence, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry have been developed for the detection of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV). An immunohistochemical method using a new recombinant antibody produced by a phage antibody system (PAS16) kit was investigated and compared with that using a monoclonal ant...

: Autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy (GFAP-A) is an antibody-related astrocytic disease for which a specific GFAP antibody serves as biological marker. Indeed, cerebral spinal fluid positive and/or seropositivity important basis its diagnosis. However, because patients with autoimmune encephalitis or demyelinating diseases can have similar profile, termed overlapping synd...

The anticomplement immunofluorescence (ACIF) test was compared with complement fixation and fluorescent antibody to membrane antigen procedures for the detection of antibody to varicella-zoster virus. All of 50 sera from pregnant women contained antibody measured by ACIF (titer, greater than or equal to 1:10); only 27 (54%) were positive by complement fixation (P less than 0.01). For 16 paired ...
