Proteochemometrics (PCM) is an approach for bioactivity predictive modeling which models the relationship between protein and chemical information. Gaussian Processes (GP), based on Bayesian inference, provide the most objective estimation of the uncertainty of the predictions, thus permitting the evaluation of the applicability domain (AD) of the model. Furthermore, the experimental error on b...

The exchange of information between vehicles is a challenging issue for future Transportation applications. In vehicular Ad-Hoc network, the vehicles are interconnected with each other and they have not any additional infrastructure along the roadside. Vehicular Ad-hoc networks are eminent from other types of Ad-hoc networks. The Ad-hoc network attributed to their features such as infrastructur...

Ultrasound is one of the most widely used modalities in medical imaging because of its high costeffectiveness, wide availability in hospitals, generation of real-time images, and use of nonionizing radiation. However, the image quality can be insufficient in some patients. Introducing a contrast agent (CA), which comprises a suspension of 2–6 μm-sized microbubbles, improves the image quality an...

In this paper we illustrate the features and study the applicability of transactional memory (TM) as an efficient and easy-to-use alternative for handling memory conflicts in multi-theaded physics simulations that use shared memory. The tool used for our preliminary analysis of this novel construct is IBM’s freely available Software Transactional Memory (STM) system. Instead of attempting to ap...

Cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) has been gaining importance as a method of functional assessment in Brazil and worldwide. In its most frequent applications, CPET consists in applying a gradually increasing intensity exercise until exhaustion or until the appearance of limiting symptoms and/or signs. The following parameters are measured: ventilation; oxygen consumption (VO2); carbon dioxid...

In this work we study the applicability of the Equivalence Theorem, either for unitary models or within an effective lagrangian approach. There are two types of limitations: the existence of a validity energy window and the use of the lowest order in the electroweak constants. For the first kind, we consider some methods, based on dispersion theory or the large N limit, that allow us to extend ...

Four multiphase flow models or correlations (Duns & Ros, Hagedorn & Brown, Orkiszewski, and Beggs & Brill) are currently available in Hydra for predicting the pressure profile in a well. The range of applicability of the multiphase flow models is dependent on several factors such as, tubing size or diameter, oil gravity, gas-liquid ratio, and, two-phase flow with or without water-cut. The effec...

Status of this Memo This memo provides information for the Internet community. It does not specify an Internet standard of any kind. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. Abstract This document describes the applicability of the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP). It also contrasts SCTP with the two dominant transport protocols, User Datagram Protocol (UDP) & Transmission Control Pro...

We investigate Global Index Grammars (GIGs), a grammar formalism that uses a stack of indices associated with productions and has restricted context-sensitive power. We discuss some of the structural descriptions that GIGs can generate compared with those generated by LIGs. We show also how GIGs can represent structural descriptions corresponding to HPSGs (Pollard and Sag, 1994) schemas.

In this paper we discuss a phenomenon present in some context-free grammars, called hidden left recursion. We show that ordinary LR parsing according to hidden left-recursive grammars is not possible and we indicate a range of solutions to this problem. One of these solutions is a new parsing technique, which is a variant of traditional LR parsing. This new parsing technique can be used both wi...
