For the first time, on the basis of Spitak earthquake experience (Armenia, December 1988), it was found that an earthquake causes intensive and prolonged radon releases that are quickly dispersed in the open air and that is why they are not usually registered but contrastingly displayed in covered premises (such as dwelling houses, schools, kindergartens) even if they are at a considerable dist...

The distribution of the genus Stenelmis (Elmidae) of the Caucasus is reviewed based on materials collected by the authors and examined specimens stored in accessible collections. One of the two species present in this region, represented by the subspecies Stenelmis consobrina consobrina Dufour, 1835, is recorded for the first time in Krasnodar Krai and possibly in Armenia; Stenelmis puberula Re...

We show that a high frequency standing wave in SU(2) gauge theory is unstable against decay into long wavelength modes. This provides a nonperturbative mechanism for energy transfer from initial high momentum modes to final states with low momentum excitations. The Abelian case does not manifest such instability. Our analysis is supported by lattice simulations. PACS: 03.50.Kk,11.15.Ha Typeset ...

Let C(B) denote the space of real-valued continuous functions on B. At the conference Harmonic Analysis and Approximations held at Nor Amberd in Armenia in September, 1998, the following general problem was posed by Professor George G. Lorentz. Find conditions on finite dimensional subspaces U and V so that U/V is a unicity set in the problem of best uniform approximation to elements of C(B). I...
