バクテリアは細胞壁合成が阻害されると溶菌するが，高浸透圧条件下では一部の細胞が細胞壁が無くても生存可能なL-formと呼ばれる状態に変換し，増殖できる．本稿では，その変換機構を明らかにすべく，我々の研究チームが行ったL-formのリアルタイム可視化による成果を中心に紹介する．
