in this investigation an attempt has been made to study the species composition, distribution and seasonal fluctuation of acarine community (arachnida: acari) in two undisturbed and well-vegetated plots located within padmaja naidu himalayan zoolo-gical park, darjeeling, india. the study continued for three consecutive years (january to december 1999–2001) revealed the presence of 10 acarine ge...

The relationship between fleshy-fruited plants and their vertebrate seed dispersal agents often has been depicted as subject to important interannual variation, but no study has thus far documented such variation on a long-term basis. This paper presents the results of a 12-yr investigation on fleshy-fruited plants and avian frugivores in a Mediterranean montane locality of southeastern Spain. ...

Distribution of molluscs in the eastern part of the Persian Gulf were studied during the PG-GOOS cruise (Oct-Nov 2012), using the 250 cm2 Van Veen grab for sampling. Sixty gastropod and 23 bivalve taxa in addition to one scaphopod taxon were identified. Gastropods constituted 80% of molluscs. The abundance of molluscs averaged 1398.36 (±261.95) ind./m2. Costellaria sp. was the most abundant ...

The epiphytic bryophyte vegetation of the Kumbet Plateau (Dereli-Giresun) was investigated. A total 40 releves taken from tree trunks in different periods year 2019 were analysed using multivariate analysis methods such as detrended correspondence (DECORANA) and two-way indicator species (TWINSPAN), Braun-Blanquet method also applied. As a result, Frullanio tamarisci-Neckeretum pumilae Alata?, ...

As a rule, communities consist of few abundant and many rare species, which is reflected in the characteristic shape of species abundance distributions (SADs). The processes that shape these SADs have been a longstanding problem for ecological research. Although many studies found strong negative effects of increasing land-use intensity on diversity, few reports consider land-use effects on SAD...

Hyperspectral images contain mixed pixels due to low spatial resolution of hyperspectral sensors. Mixed pixels are pixels containing more than one distinct material called endmembers. The presence percentages of endmembers in mixed pixels are called abundance fractions. Spectral unmixing problem refers to decomposing these pixels into a set of endmembers and abundance fractions. Due to nonnegat...

We determine the linear amplitude of mass fluctuations in the universe, σ8, from the abundance of massive clusters at redshifts z = 0.5− 0.8. The evolution of massive clusters depends exponentially on the amplitude of mass fluctuations and thus provides a powerful measure of this important cosmological parameter. The relatively high abundance of massive clusters observed at z > 0.5, and the rel...

Understanding the nature and relative importance of endogenous (density-dependent) and exogenous (density-independent) effects on population dynamics remains a central problem in ecology. Evaluation of these forces has been constrained by the lack of long time series of population densities and largely limited to populations chosen for their unique dynamics (e.g., outbreak insects). Especially ...
