We sequenced a carbapenem-resistant Shewanella putrefaciens isolate cultured from the sink handle of a Pakistan hospital room. Assembly annotation indicates that the isolate has a chromosomal blaOXA-436 carbapenemase and a plasmid-borne blaNDM-1 gene. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a Shewanella species harboring blaNDM.

The emergence of multiple-carbapenemase-producing Acinetobacter strains has been a serious concern during the past decade. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of an Acinetobacter baumannii strain isolated from a Japanese patient with three acquired carbapenemase genes: blaNDM-1, blaTMB-1, and blaOXA-58.

We report genome sequences of two NDM-1 metallo-β-lactamase-producing multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates of sequence type 147 (ST147) from one hospital. The genomes are highly similar and differ in prophage located in the chromosome of K. pneumoniae KPB-1470/16 and in the additional plasmid-carrying blaOXA-48 gene in K. pneumoniae KPB-417/16.

Objective: This study aimed to characterize epidemiological and molecular profile of Healthcare-associated infections [HAI] in 21 intensive care units (ICU) a city Colombia. Methods: Descriptive prevalence. Adult patients were screened ICUs for HAIs: VAP, CLABSI; CAUTI and/or SSI. Microbiological genotypic identification was performed. Results: Prevalence HAIs 41.4% (CI 36.9-45.9).VAP 15.8% 12....

A series of clinical isolates of drug-resistant (DR) Acinetobacter baumannii with diverse drug susceptibility was detected from eight patients in the emergency intensive care unit of Tokai University Hospital. The initial isolate was obtained in March 2010 (A. baumannii Tokai strain 1); subsequently, seven isolates were obtained from patients (A. baumannii Tokai strains 2-8) and one isolate was...

Background: Acinetobacter spp. is an important nosocomial pathogen for which increasing resistance to multiple antimicrobial agents has been observed. Prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter spp. in the intensive care unit (ICU) at a teaching hospital in Korea started to increase in 2008. The aim of this study was to determine the source of pathogen spread and to characterize the ...

OBJECTIVES A growing incidence of pathogens producing carbapenemases has been observed in many countries including Bangladesh. The present study was carried out to determine the presence of carbapenemase producers among uropathogens. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 138 Gram-negative uropathogens were isolated and identified by conventional methods and were screened for carbapenemase producti...

Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii) is a highly problematic pathogen with an enormous capacity to acquire or upregulate antibiotic drug resistance determinants. The genomic epidemiology and resistome structure of 46 A. clinical isolates were studied using whole-genome sequencing. chosen based on reduced susceptibility at least three classes antimicrobial compounds initially identified MALDI-...

OXA-48 is an emerging class D carbapenemase originally identified in isolates from Turkey (14) and subsequently detected in several European and north African countries (10). Klebsiella pneumoniae is the most common host for OXA-48, but the enzyme has also been detected in Escherichia coli and Enterobacter cloacae (10). The blaOXA-48 gene is carried by the composite transposon Tn1999 or a varia...
