We introduce a new class of edge labelings for locally finite lattices which we call SB-labelings. We prove for finite lattices which admit an SB-labeling that each open interval has the homotopy type of a ball or of a sphere of some dimension. Natural examples include the weak order, the Tamari lattice, and the finite distributive lattices.

Performance of structures during recent earthquakes shows that the effect of vertical component of earthquake (VCE) could be considered as one of the main causes of bridges collapse. In most of bridge design codes, for seismic analysis of bridges, VCE is not taken into account or a distinguished method isn’t presented for assessment of VCE. In the present work, the effect of VCE on two existing...

We exhibit a new relationship between dynamic and static semantics. We define the categorical outlay needed to define Interaction Graphs models, a generalisation of Girard’s Geometry of Interaction models, which strongly relate to game semantics. We then show how this category is mapped to weighted relational models of linear logic. This brings into vision a new bridge between the dynamic and s...

The following paper discusses different aspects of railway bridge dynamics, comprising analysis, modelling procedures and experimental testing. The importance of realistic models is discussed, especially regarding boundary conditions, load distribution and soil-structure interaction. Two theoretical case studies are presented, involving both deterministic and probabilistic assessment of a large...

The dynamics of the frictional force between the bow hair and the string causes the bow to oscillate in its longitudinal direction during the bow stroke. Under certain conditions, such oscillations in the bow enhanced by the bow resonances can be observed in the spectrum of the frictional force between bow and string, and also in the velocity spectrum at the bridge. The present study discusses ...

Human-Robot Social Interaction became one of active research fields in which researchers from different areas propose solutions and directives leading robots to improve their interactions with humans. In this paper we propose to introduce works in both human robot interaction and human computer interaction and to make a bridge between them, i.e. to integrate emotions and capabilities concepts o...
