there are many treatment modalities available to acutely terminate incessant ventricular tachycardia with variable success rates, but some cases tend to prove refractory to all of them. we report a 59-year-old woman presenting with incessant ventricular tachycardia. echocardiography revealed a large true apical aneurysm and severe left ventricular dysfunction. the arrhythmia was controlled in t...

BACKGROUND Neurologic and clinical morbidity after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) can be significant. By avoiding cardiopulmonary bypass, off-pump CABG (OPCAB) may reduce morbidity. METHODS Sixty patients (30 CABG and 30 OPCAB) were prospectively randomized. Neurocognitive testing was performed before the operation and 2 weeks and 1 year after the operation. Neurologic testing to dete...

Objectives: Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is widely regarded as an important contributor to renal failure, a well recognized complication following coronary artery surgery (coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)). Anecdotally off-pump coronary surgery (OPCAB) is considered renoprotective. We examine the extent of renal glomerular and tubular injury in low-risk patients undergoing either OPCAB or...

introduction: heart failure is a major hazard for public health. despite recent advance in medical therapy, there is not enough information on the outcome of off-pump coronary artery bypass (opcab) and medical therapy on the patients with severe ventricular dysfunction and triple-vessel (cad). this study aimed to compare treatment outcomes and mortality rate in patients undergoing off-pump coro...

The presence of occlusive disease of the subclavian artery (SCA) proximal to the origin of the internal thoracic artery (ITA) influences the operative strategy and the outcome of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Of 780 patients who underwent CABG, concomitant SCA occlusive lesions were reconstructed in 13 patients (nine males, four females). The affected SCAs were left-sided in 11 patien...

This study was about total intravenous anesthesia for coronary artery bypass graft. In this study Patient's: hemodynamic were stable. Hypothermia and rewarming during cardiopulmonary bypass were very smooth and ideal. Severe acid - base imbalance did not happened. It did not need excessive in&tropic and vasodilators. Generally, before, during and after cardiopulmonary bypass circulation, hemody...

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in the ageing population is always a debatable topic most heart centres. Are we doing right thing by intervening and performing isolated CABG patients aged ≥75 years? This study aimed to investigate predictive ability of EUROSCORE II, revascularisation success with survival outcomes these patients. A retrospective analysis was performed all years who under...

Introduction: Coronary artery bypass grafting is a surgical operation that bypasses atherosclerotic coronary vessels and restores blood flow to the ischemic zone of hearts. And two different conventional methods are ON-pump CABG, and Off-pump CABG.  Altogether, the efficacy and safety of these two types of surgical procedures are still under debate. In this study, we aim to com...

Background. Conventional coronary artery bypass surgery has been associated with cerebral injury attributed to cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and surgical manipulation of the ascending aorta. Off-pump coronary artery surgery avoids these factors and could prevent cerebral injury. However, moving the heart from its natural position affects the circulation and could compromise cerebral oxygenation ...

Elective Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass techniques following preoperative transfusions to increase the hemoglobin A levels to above 60%, in a male patient with sickle cell disease [SCD] is described. Avoidance of hypoxia and acidosis lead to an uneventful perioperative period. Our institutional protocol for preoperative transfusions is highlighted.
