In this paper we describe our initial research on crosscultural uptake of Beehive, an IBM-internal social networking site. We focus on microblogging through status messages as a first pass at observing distinct patterns of usage in three geographies – China, India and the United States. We conclude by outlining our future research directions on this topic.
