An optical correlator based on acoustoelectro-optic interaction is proposed. The device is experimentally demonstrated with a LiNbO(3) crystal in which acoustic waves are launched by a piezoelectric transducer and electric fields are established through the photorefractive effect.

Cross-correlator plays a significant role in many visual perception tasks, such as object detection and tracking. Beyond the linear cross-correlator, this paper proposes a kernel crosscorrelator (KCC) that breaks traditional limitations. First, by introducing the kernel trick, the KCC extends the linear crosscorrelation to non-linear space, which is more robust to signal noises and distortions....

In today NIDS the number of alerts may be huge and the delay in between an alert is generated and the system administrator analyzes it, can be too long and the situation can be changed, e.g. with dual boot Unix-Windows machines. Therefore we would like to give a low priority or to filter out not relevant alerts. We would like also to gather more information about the target of the attack at the...

Volume holographic memory can offer massively parallel associative search capability in addition to high capacity data storage. After holograms have been stored into a photosensitive material, an optical correlation of an input user query against all eo-locationally stored patterns can be made simultaneously, resulting in fast search speed. We describe a correlator based on a 90 degree geometry...

We propose a simple parameterization of the two-point correlator of hadronic electromagnetic currents for the evaluation of the hadronic contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment. The parameterization is explicitly done in the Euclidean domain. The model function contains a phenomenological parameter which provides an infrared cutoff to guarantee the smooth behavior of the correlator ...

Currently, analog signal deformation is described using individual-chip step response curves for each GPS/WAAS-GEO satellite. Such a set of curves is helpful – it allows us to have an overall idea of the distortions for all satellites as well as identify possibly anomalous satellite signals. However, the step response curves do not convey the severity of the distortions to the user in a metric ...

This paper studies the characteristics of an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) communication system employing Impulse Radio techniques and, specifically, the effects of the matched filter of a correlator receiver in the performance of such a system. Such effects are evaluated in terms of the Bit Error Rate (BER) for a Binary Pulse Position Modulation (BPPM) scheme, in an indoor multipath propagation channel...

We study the correlator of two parallel Wilson lines in two-dimensional noncommutative Yang-Mills theory, following two different approaches. We first consider a perturbative expansion and resum all planar diagrams, planarity acquiring a meaning in two dimensions only in the large-N limit. The second approach is non-perturbative: we exploit the Morita equivalence, mapping the two open lines on ...

A wideband correlator system with a bandwidth of 16 GHz or more is required for Array for Microwave Background Anisotropy (AMiBA) to achieve the sensitivity of 10μK in one hour of observation. Double-balanced diode mixers were used as multipliers in 4-lag correlator modules. Several wideband modules were developed for IF signal distribution between receivers and correlators. Correlator outputs ...

Optical correlation, or matched filtering, can now be applied more widely than before, because the light is now allowed to be totally incoherent, spatially and spectrally. Two such correlators were demonstrated recently. Their state of chromatic correction can be called achromatic, since the scaling error has two zero crossings within the visible range of wavelengths. We present a new apochroma...
