The lack of a reliable bond test has hindered the elucidation of the mechanism for porcelain-metal bonding in dental systems, because a test capable of detecting differences among porcelain-metal bonds of various qualities is required before the reasons for these differences may be ascertained. A method was developed in the present study whereby specimens of alloys with differing physical prope...

New dental precious metal alloys for resin bonding without alloy surface modification were developed by adding base metals (In, Zn, or Sn). Before this, binary alloys of Au, Ag, Cu, or Pd containing In, Zn, or Sn were studied for water durability and bonding strength with 4-META resin. The adhesion ability of the binary alloys was improved by adding In equivalent to 15% of Au content, Zn equiva...

Pillar[5]arenes with introverted amino groups were produced through aminolysis. X-ray analysis demonstrated that the intramolecular hydrogen bonding induced the amino group toward the inner space of the cavity. The kinetic studies and molecular modelings revealed that the hydrogen bonding also contributed to the acceleration of the aminolysis through stabilizing the intermediate.

Mastering anterior direct composite restorations is a necessity for the contemporary clinician who appreciates and understands the art and science of cosmetic dentistry. In the esthetic zone, composite bonding procedures are considered the most conservative and least invasive technique to return missing, diseased, and unsightly tooth structure to enhanced color, form, and function. Composites' ...

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of metal primers on the bonding of dental alloys and veneer resin. Polyvinylpyrrolidone solution's tarnish effect on bonding strength was also investigated. MATERIALS AND METHODS Disk-shape metal specimens (diameter 8 mm, thickness 1.5 mm) were made from 3 kinds of alloy (Co-Cr, Ti and Au-Ag-Pd alloy) and divided into 4 groups per each ...

There are many different ways to measure the bond strength of direct esthetic restorations to various dental substrates. Unfortunately, most methods cannot measure bond strengths immediately after a restoration has been placed. This lack of clinically-relevant information seriously affects the clinician's ability to select and use various bonding agents and procedures. The aim of this article i...

There is general agreement on the necessity of fixed lingual retainers to prevent relapse in many patients after active orthodontic treatment. Several methods for delivering fixed lingual retainers have been introduced. However, bonding a lingual retainer is still challenging because it requires long working time and has a risk of contamination from saliva and moisture, which can cause bonding ...

UNLABELLED Although the literature has provided clinicians with some awareness of restorative material alternatives, such as laboratory-processed composite resin, these systems are not yet fully understood and implemented in daily practice, despite their benefits to dental patients. Whereas part I highlights treatment planning, preparation design, and impression making for an indirect resin onl...

For this literature review of pit and fissure sealant, 1,465 references were selected by a search for “sealants” on PubMed. References were limited to dental journals and papers in the English language. The search comprised papers from 1971 to October 2001. Additional papers of historical significance prior to 1971 were added from memory and from reference lists published in early papers. This ...

s The purpose of this study was carried out by the embryotoxicity risk assessment of the dental alloys containing indium. We produced Ag-In alloy, Ag-Pd-Au-Cu alloy and gold alloy for porcelain bonding. For the extraction of these alloy components into the ES-D3 cell culture medium, each alloy was reduced to a powder using a diamond point and sterilized after rinsing. In order to facilitate the...
