Abstract. Suryanti E, Rusamana I, Wahyudi AT, Akhdiya A, Sukamdjaja D. 2022. Constructing and expressing acyl-homoserine lactone lactonase (aiiA) gene for enhancing Solanum tuberosum resistance against soft rot disease. Biodiversitas 23: 1780-1787. Expression of the genes associated with pectinase production in disease Dickeya spp. are regulated by quorum sensing mechanism using acyl homoserine...

Purothionins are basic polypeptides with antimicrobial properties that are present in the endosperm of wheat and other cereal species. Susceptibility to wheat purothionins among phytopathogenic bacteria of the genera Pseudomonas, Xanthomonas, Agrobacterium, Erwinia, and Corynebacterium has been investigated. Sensitive strains have been found in all of these genera except Agrobacterium (the only...

Virulent E(9) and avirulent E(8) strains of Erwinia amylovora were shown by means of light, transmission, and scanning microscopy to be, respectively, encapsulated and unencapsulated. Difficulty was encountered in stabilizing the fibrillar-appearing capsular extracellular polysaccharide. We suggest that the ephemeral nature of extracellular polysaccharide is due to the collapse of its extended ...

ABSTRACT Fire blight of apple and pear is initiated by epiphytic populations of Erwinia amylovora on flower stigmas. Predicting this disease and managing it with microbial antagonists depends on an understanding of bacterial colonization on stigmas. Detached 'Manchurian' crab apple flowers were inoculated with E. amylovora and subjected to a range of constant temperatures or various fluctuating...

Serological assays were used to estimate the proportion of Acalymma vittata (F.) that harbored Erwinia tracheiphila (E. F. Smith) Holland, the causal agent of bacterial wilt in cucurbits. Theseproportionswere related to theproportionofA. vittata that transmitteddisease in singlebeetle caged bioassays. The serological assays classiÞed beetles as harboring the bacteria when the titer was above '1...

beta-1,4-Galactan is a major component of the ramified regions of pectin. Analysis of the genome of the plant pathogenic bacteria Erwinia chrysanthemi revealed the presence of a cluster of eight genes encoding proteins potentially involved in galactan utilization. The predicted transport system would comprise a specific porin GanL and an ABC transporter made of four proteins, GanFGK(2). Degrada...

Erwinia psidii causes bacterial disease of guava in Brazil. Phenotypic and molecular characterization through rep-PCR fingerprinting of 42 strains from different geographical regions showed that E. psidii populations in Brazil have a low level of genetic diversity and suggest that contaminated plant material is the main source for pathogen dissemination in the country.
