We present in this paper a pen-based musical score editor prototype. It allows the user to edit quite the same way as if it was on a sheet of paper, all of his drawing strokes being progressively recognized and replaced by their corresponding symbol by the system, right during the editing. Most of the classical musical symbols are already available, as well as the basic editing possibilities. W...

Order α 2 corrections to the decay rate of orthopositronium are calculated in the framework of nonrelativistic QED. The resulting contribution is found to be in significant disagreement with one set of experimental measurements, though another experiment is in agreement with theory. The discrepancy between theory and experiment for the decay rate of orthopositronium has long been one of the out...

The standard determination of the QED coupling on the Z pole is performed using the latest available data for R. The direct application of analytic continuation techniques is found not to improve the accuracy of the value of α(M2 Z). However they help to resolve an ambiguity in the values of R in the energy region √ s ∼ 2 GeV, which, in turn, reduces the uncertainty in α(M2 Z). Moreover, they p...

Higher order renormalons beyond the chain of one-loop bubbles are discussed. A perturbation method for the infrared renormalon residue is found. The large order behavior of the current-current correlation function due to the first infrared renormalon is determined in both QED and QCD to the first three orders.
