Štúdium viazania stopových prvkov v sedimente vodnej nádrže Ružín Pre účely posúdenia možnosti využitia fyzikálnych a fyzikálno-chemických metód separácie, vybraná vzorka sedimentu z Ružína bola podrobené 5-stupňovej procedúre sekvenčnej extrakcie (SE) podľa Tessiera (Tessier et al., 1979) a Horowitza (Horowitz, 1991). Vo výluhoch bolo stanovované zastúpenie konštitučných (Fe, Mn, Ca a Mg) ako ...

Organic-inorganic magnetic hybrid materials (MHMs) combine a nonmagnetic and a magnetic component by means of electrostatic interactions or covalent bonds, and notable features can be achieved. Herein, we describe an application of a self-assembled material based on ferrite associated with β-cyclodextrin (Fe-Ni/Zn/βCD) at the nanoscale level. This MHM and pure ferrite (Fe-Ni/Zn) were used as an...

The concentrations of some metals (Cu, Zn, Fe, Pb) in human placentas at term in two populations living in polluted (Krakow, n = 10) and non-polluted (Bieszczady, n = 13) areas were investigated by means of graphite furnace--or flame atomic absorption spectrometry (GF-AAS or F-AAS). The concentrations of Cu, Fe and Pb were higher in Krakow vs. Bieszczady, while Zn concentration was lower, but t...

To minimize injury due to water stress, plants have developed multiple strategies by which they resist. Hence, Fe and Zn were researched in relation the influence of drought stress, because, they are the most frequently minerals lacking in human diet especially in the semiarid regions such as Northeast Brazil. A large variability was observed in the zinc and iron content of 100 sorghum genotype...

The body weight and condition index (CI) effect on concentrations of Pb, Zn, Mn and Fe were investigated in Mytilus galloprovincialis soft tissue at two different locations in the Izmit Bay. A negative correlation between soft tissue dry weight and metal concentrations was clear in Mn and Fe. On the other hand, Zn and Pb levels decreased with increasing CI value.

The metal chelator nicotianamine promotes the bioavailability of Fe and reduces cellular Fe toxicity. For breeding Fe-efficient crops, we need to explore the fundamental impact of nicotianamine on plant development and physiology. The quadruple nas4x-2 mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana cannot synthesize any nicotianamine, shows strong leaf chlorosis, and is sterile. To date, these phenotypes have ...

Mycobacterium smegmatis was grown on trace-metal-free medium in static culture. Throughout the growth phase, the concentration of mycobactin increased continuously, reaching a maximum of about 30 to 40 mug of mycobactin/mg of cell dry weight after 6 days; the concentration of salicylic acid remained approximately constant at 1 to 2 mug of salicylic acid/mug of cell dry weight. Fe(2+) (or Fe(3+)...

Background: Unsafe food consumption is a severe problem because of heavy metal contamination, which is caused by director indirect activities of industries. The present study was conducted to assess the risk of human health by Heavy metals (Cu, Co, Fe, Zn and Mn) through the intake of vegetables and fishes obtained from the area adjacent to the Hazaribag tannery campus, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Resul...

Responses in micro-mineral metabolism to changes in dietary ingredient composition and inclusion of a micro-mineral premix (Fe, Cu, Mn, Zn and Se) were studied in rainbow trout. In a 2 x 2 factorial design, triplicate groups of rainbow trout (initial weight: 20 g) were fed over 12 weeks at 17°C a fishmeal-based diet (M) or a plant-ingredient based diet (V), with or without inclusion of a minera...

BACKGROUND & AIMS Patients who underwent endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) present protein-energy malnutrition, but little is known about Trace Elements (TE), Zinc (Zn), Copper (Cu), Selenium (Se), Iron (Fe), Chromium (Cr). Our aim was the evaluation of serum TE in patients who underwent PEG and its relationship with serum proteins, BMI and nature of underlying disorder. METHODS A prospective obse...
