the drastic decline of precipitation over the past decade along with overuse of chemical inputs and consequent soil fertility reduction are the most important problems in the approach to agricultural expansion, particularly in urban landscaping. therefore, an experiment was designed to examine the effects of different irrigation levels (40, 70 and 100 % of field capacity, or fc) and different v...

plants are almost reach sources of phenolic compounds such as flavonoids which are the most importantnatural antioxidants. antioxidant compounds are essential for protecting human body against oxidativestress. however use elicitors could increase the antioxidant activity of plant. the purpose of this studywas to evaluate the effects of chitosan on the content of phenolic and flavonoid compounds...

Flavonoid composition during the ontogenetic cycle was examined in Pyracantha coccinea. The flavonoid profiles of plants at different ages showed marked differences in aerial and hypogeal parts. In the vegetative phase there are flavonoids (flavanones, flavones, and flavonols) only in the aerial parts and they appear gradually during the plant life. These secondary metabolites are detectable in...

The quantitative determination of flavonoid compounds in flowers and leaves of Ficaria verna Huds. (Ranunculaceae) was carried out in different growing seasons of the plant, using Christ-Müller's method (Polish Pharmacopoeia, 1999) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis after acid hydrolysis. The flavonoid content was much higher in flowers than in leaves.

Anaphalis margaritacea, Gnaphalium chilense and G. microecephalum have been analyzed for flavonoid aglycones deposited externally on aerial parts. Anaphalis was found to produce, am ong others, several rare flavonoids, all o f which are O -substituted in position 6 and mostly also in position 8. Both Gnaphalium species exhibit 3,5-dihydroxy-6,7,8-trim ethoxyflavone as the m ajor exudate flavonoid.

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Development of insect resistance to synthetic pesticides, high operational cost and environmental pollution have created the need for developing alternative approaches to control vector-borne diseases. In the present study, larvicidal activity of flavonoid extracts of different parts of Vitex negundo (Linnaeus) and Andrographis paniculata (Nees) have been studied against...

Euphorbia hirta (Euphorbiaceae) has reported antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral anti inflammatory, anti arthritic and antioxidant effect with presence of polyphenolic and flavonoid compounds lead us to evaluate the wound healing activity of enriched flavonoid fraction. Qualitative phytochemical test and quantitative estimation of total flavonoid and polyphenol content was carried out on ethan...

BACKGROUND As a result of changing consumer preferences, cotton (Gossypium Hirsutum L.) from varieties with naturally colored fibers is becoming increasingly sought after in the textile industry. The molecular mechanisms leading to colored fiber development are still largely unknown, although it is expected that the color is derived from flavanoids. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN Firstly, four key genes...

Reduction of susceptibility to apoptosis signals is a crucial step in carcinogenesis. Therefore, sensitization of tumor cells to apoptosis is a promising therapeutic strategy. c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase (JNK) has been implicated in stress-induced apoptosis. However, many studies also emphasize the role of JNK on cell survival, although its mechanisms are not completely understood. Previously, we...

Ginkgo biloba L., a "living fossil" and medicinal plant, is a well-known rich source of bioactive flavonoids. The molecular mechanism underlying the biosynthesis of flavonoid glucosides, the predominant flavonoids in G. biloba, remains unclear. To better understand flavonoid glucosylation in G. biloba, we generated a transcriptomic dataset of G. biloba leaf tissue by high-throughput RNA sequenc...
