We report a new reducing agent system: hydriodic acid with trifluoroacetic acid, which can chemically convert graphene oxide into reduced graphene oxide at temperatures below 0 °C in solution. This is the first achievement to produce reduced graphene oxide at subzero temperature with a mass production.
Potassium ion batteries (KIBs) have received increasing popularity owing to their distinct advantages. We discover a hitherto unknown C4S nanosheet, novel carbon-based material with carbon and sulfur consisting of pentagons hexagons rings. The proposed nanosheet is highly stable dynamically, thermodynamically, mechanically, chemically, according first-principles calculations. Moreover, the grap...
A facile method for the synthesis of highly fluorinated reduced graphene oxide from graphene oxide using BF3-OEt2 solution and alkylthiol/alkylamine on the Gram scale has been described using a detailed mechanism. The maximum fluorination was as high as 38 wt% and the fluorinated reduced graphene oxide produced has great wettability and high insulating properties.
The paper titled " Toxicity of Graphene Shells, Graphene Oxide, and Graphene Oxide Paper Evaluated with Escherichia coli Biotests " [1] contains textual errors we wish to correct. The corrections are as follows. In Section " 2.
CuS-graphene nanosheet (GNS) composites with well-defined morphology have been successfully fabricated via a simple one-pot hydrothermal route by using thioacetamide (TAA) as both the sulfur source and reducing agent. The as-prepared CuS-GNS composites with an appropriate content of graphene exhibited an even higher peroxidase-like catalytic activity than pristine CuS nanoparticles in acetate b...
Two types of graphene oxide fibers are spun from high concentration aqueous dopes. Fibers extruded from large flake graphene oxide dope without drawing show unconventional 100% knot efficiency. Fibers spun from small sized graphene oxide dope with stable and continuous drawing yield in good intrinsic alignment with a record high tensile modulus of 47 GPa.
The development of new mechanical actuators that convert external stimuli such as thermal, light, electrical, or chemical energy to mechanical energy depends on the development of new materials. Reversible mechanical actuators based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and hydrogel polymers have suggested applications in robotics, sensors, mechanical instruments, microscopy tips, switches, and memory chi...
Graphene oxides with different surface charges were fabricated from carboxylated graphene oxide by chemical modification with amino- (-NH2), poly-m-aminobenzene sulfonic acid- (-NH2/-SO3H), or methoxyl- (-OCH3) terminated functional groups. The chemically functionalized graphene oxides and the carboxylated graphene oxide were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectrosc...
CaCO3 acts as a gasification agent during magnesiothermic reduction of graphene oxide, thus preventing the newly formed graphene from restacking. The surface area of the obtained graphene increases from 66 m(2) g(-1) to 603 m(2) g(-1) by adding CaCO3 with a high yield of ∼70% based on the carbon content in graphene oxide.
Perylene diimide derivatives were used as probes to investigate the effect of the molecular structures on the fluorescence quenching mechanism in a perylene diimide/graphene oxide system. The electrons transferred from the excited state of dyes to the conductive band of graphene oxide with different concentrations were determined by fluorescence spectra. The results indicated that the quenching...
