Thixotropy conditioning of inspiratory muscles consisting of maximal inspiratory effort performed at an inflated lung volume is followed by an increase in end-expiratory position of the rib cage in normal human subjects. When performed at a deflated lung volume, conditioning is followed by a reduction in end-expiratory position. The present study was performed to determine whether changes in en...
Background: The instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) are important index of physical functioning in older adult studies. These count outcomes with a large proportion of zeros are often collected in longitudinal studies. Data were from the Hispanic Established Population for Epidemiological Study of the Elderly (HEPESE), a four wave (seven years) longitudinal study of community-dwelli...
let $g$ be a non-abelian finite group. in this paper, we prove that $gamma(g)$ is $k_4$-free if and only if $g cong a times p$, where $a$ is an abelian group, $p$ is a $2$-group and $g/z(g) cong mathbb{ z}_2 times mathbb{z}_2$. also, we show that $gamma(g)$ is $k_{1,3}$-free if and only if $g cong {mathbb{s}}_3,~d_8$ or $q_8$.
we define minimal cn-dominating graph $mathbf {mcn}(g)$, commonality minimal cn-dominating graph $mathbf {cmcn}(g)$ and vertex minimal cn-dominating graph $mathbf {m_{v}cn}(g)$, characterizations are given for graph $g$ for which the newly defined graphs are connected. further serval new results are developed relating to these graphs.
Now a days, an important and interesting alternative in the control of tick-infestation in cattle is to select resistant animals, and identify the respective quantitative trait loci (QTLs) and DNA markers, for posterior use in breeding programs. The number of ticks/animal is characterized as a discrete-counting trait, which could potentially follow Poisson distribution. However, in the case of ...
GENERALIZED ESTIMATING EQUATION BASED ZERO-INFLATED MODEL WITH APPLICATION TO EXAMINING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DENTAL CARIES AND FLUORIDE EXPOSURES Sheng Xu April 16, 2013 In the study of dental caries, the number of caries is frequently characterized by over-dispersion and excessive zeros. In addition, the numbers of caries from the same subject are correlated. Zero-Inflated (ZI) regression ...
The multi-agent path finding (MAPF) problem is defined as follows: Given a graph and a set of agents with unique start and goal vertices, find collision-free paths for all agents from their respective start vertices to their respective goal vertices. Our objective is to minimize the the total arrival time. MAPF has many applications such as video games, traffic control and robotics. Solving the...
A recommendation system confronts two opposing problems. In order to be practical, recommendations systems need to be quick, efficient, and scale well in both computational complexity and memory cost [7, 23]. This is frequently achieved by reducing the dimensionality of the data [7]. For example, suppose we have N users, M items, and a review matrix R ∈ RN×M consisting of positive integer ratin...
We study the inflated phase of two dimensional lattice polygons with fixed perimeter N and variable area, associating a weight exp[pA− Jb] to a polygon with area A and b bends. For convex and column-convex polygons, we show that 〈A〉/Amax = 1−K(J)/p̃ 2 + O(ρ), where p̃ = pN ≫ 1, and ρ < 1. The constant K(J) is found to be the same for both types of polygons. We argue that self-avoiding polygons sh...
