It is long known that the Fokker-Planck equation with prescribed constant coefficients of diffusion and linear friction describes the ensemble average of the stochastic evolutions in velocity space of a Brownian test particle immersed in a heat bath of fixed temperature. Apparently, it is not so well known that the same partial differential equation, but now with constant coefficients which are...

We study the effect of extrinsic noise in metabolic networks. We introduce external random fluctuations at the kinetic level, and show how these lead to a stochastic generalization of standard metabolic control analysis. While summation and connectivity theorems hold true in the presence of extrinsic noise, control coefficients incorporate its effect through an explicit dependency on the noise ...

We investigate the diffusion of particles on heterogeneous lattices with two kinds of nonequivalent sites. General analytical expressions for the chemical and jump diffusion coefficients have been derived in the case of strong inhomogeneity. We have calculated coverage dependencies of the diffusion coefficients and other necessary thermodynamic quantities for some representative values of the l...

Biologists use diagrams to represent interactions between molecular species, and on the computer, diagrammatic notations are also more and more employed in interactive maps. These diagrams are fundamentally of two types: reaction graphs and activation/inhibition graphs. In this paper, we study the formal relationship between these graphs. We consider systems of biochemical reactions with kineti...

In this study, kinetics of biological carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorous removal from a synthetic wastewater in an integrated rotating biological contactoractivated sludge system was investigated. The experimental data obtained from varying four significant independent factors viz., hydraulic retention time, chemical oxygen demand for nitrogen to phosphorus ratio, internal recirculation from aer...

We investigate the behaviour of 5d models with general brane kinetic terms by discretis-ing the extra dimension. We show that in the continuum limit the Kaluza-Klein masses and wave functions are in general nonanalytic in the coefficients of brane terms.

We study strong existence and pathwise uniqueness for stochastic differential equations in R with rough coefficients, and without assuming uniform ellipticity for the diffusion matrix. Our approach relies on direct quantitative estimates on solutions to the SDE, assuming Sobolev bounds on the drift and diffusion coefficients, and L bounds for the solution of the corresponding Fokker-Planck PDE,...

We present quantum mechanical and quasiclassical trajectory calculations of cross sections for rovibrational transitions in ortho-and para-H 2 induced by collisions with He atoms. Cross sections were obtained for kinetic energies between 10 −4 and 3 eV, and the corresponding rate coefficients were calculated for the temperature range 100≤T ≤4000 K. Comparisons are made with previous calculations.

Background : Kinetic models in natural wastewater treatment systems design can have an important role to help designing other parts from aspects of physical, hydraulic and process in real scale, and to determine the strengths and weaknesses of system. So, the initial aim of wetlands design is removal of organic matter is , BOD5 and COD, so. Determining the kinetic coefficients is necessary.  ...

Atmospheric particles adversely affect visibility, health, and climate, yet the kinetics and mechanisms of particle formation and growth are poorly understood. Multiphase reactions between amines and dicarboxylic acids (diacids) have been suggested to contribute. In this study, the reactions of n-butylamine (BA) with solid C3-C8 diacids were studied at 296 ± 1 K using a Knudsen cell interfaced ...
