We study the quark-antiquark potential of quenched SU(3) lattice gauge theory with the Lüscher-Weisz action. After blocking the gauge fields with the recently proposed hypercubic transformation we compute the Sommer parameter, extract the lattice spacing a and set the scale at 6 different values of the gauge coupling in a range from a = 0.084 fm to 0.136 fm. This paper presents a heuristic attack on the fully homomorphic encryption over the integers by using lattice reduction algorithm. Our result shows that the FHE in [DGHV10] is not secure for some parameter settings. We also present an improvement scheme to avoid the lattice attack in this paper.
Motivated by biological questions, we study configurations of equal spheres that neither pack nor 3 cover. Placing their centers on a lattice, we define the soft density of the configuration by penalizing multiple 4 overlaps. We predict the possible existence of a new phase of liquid crystals near the nematic-isotropic transition. This phase is an achiral, tilt analogue of the blue phase and is composed of a lattice of double-tilt, escape-configuration cylinders. We discuss the structure and the stability of this phase and provide an estimate of the lattice parameter.
