The recent advances in ocular drug delivery have been successful surpassing conventional therapy, owing to its considerable limitations. This study aims develop and optimize in-situ liposomal system design once-daily liquid preparation treat Keratoconjunctivitis sicca. Liposomes of Hyaluronic acid were prepared using soya lecithin by a thin film hydration method. Eight trial formulations made k...

An analysis is presented of how the permeability coefficient/octanol:water partition coefficient ratio for 33 different chemical substances crossing egg lecithin bilayers depends on the molecular volume of the substances. From this analysis we conclude that bilayers made from egg lecithin behave as soft polymers in their discrimination between permeants of different sizes and shapes.

The effects of four different canola lecithins applied at proportions of 30 g fatty acid kgÿ1 diet were compared with diets containing either no additional lipid or the same amount of fatty acids from canola seed, pure canola oil and deoiled soy lecithin, respectively. Four types of canola lecithin with increasing dispersibility in water were used: raw; deoiled; deoiled/hydrolysed; and hydrolys...

Egg lecithin is a complex mixture of phosphatides that consists mainly of phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine, combined with various amounts of other substances such as triglycerides and fatty acids [1]. As pharmaceutical excipient lecithin is used in parenteral emulsions, liposomes and mixed micellar solutions. It has been proved, that aqueous dispersions of lecithin (Water-Lecith...

BACKGROUND Lecithin has been widely sold as a dietary supplement. 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) is a phospholipid that does not exist in nature and has been used in vitro to study lipid binding. We tested DMPC in vivo in apolipoprotein (apo) E-null mice. METHODS AND RESULTS DMPC or soy or egg lecithin at 1.0 mg/mL was added to the drinking water of 4-week-old apoE-null fe...

In earlier studies, we prepared a docosapeptide, 1, designed with minimum homology as an amphiphilic alpha-helical model of apolipoprotein A-I (apo A-I) and described its lipid-binding characteristics, surface properties, and enzyme-activating ability. Although the affinity of 1 for egg lecithin unilamellar vesicles was comparable with that for the binding of apo A-I, the affinity of 1 for mixe...
