Using data collected with the CLEO detector operating at the CESR e+e− collider at √ s = 3.974.26GeV, we investigate 15 charmonium decay modes of the ψ(4040), ψ(4160), and Y (4260) resonances. We confirm, at 11σ significance, the BaBar Y (4260)→ π+π−J/ψ discovery, make the first observation of Y (4260) → π0π0J/ψ (5.1σ), and find the first evidence for Y (4260) → K+K−J/ψ (3.7σ). We measure e+e− ...

Background and objective: Pityriasis rosea (PR) is a transient skin disease with a distinct appearance that is prevalent throughout the world and is more frequently seen in winter. Despite the reported epidemiological evidence, which account for an infective agent, this has not been proved, yet. This study was designed to determine the epidemiological features of PR in terms of age, gender, sea...

background: prevalence of fall-related mortality is rising in the elderly population. falling is one of the causes of the murderous and non-murderous injuries in the elderly population which can lead to disability, dependence and decline of quality of life. fractures constitute a major part of the fall-related injuries. the present study is designed to investigate the prevalence of fall-related...

OBJECTIVES We examined risk factors for falls among older people according to indoor and outdoor activity at the time of the fall and explored risk factors for seriously injurious falls. METHODS Data came from MOBILIZE Boston, a prospective cohort study of 765 community-dwelling women and men, mainly aged 70 years or older. Over 4.3 years, 1737 falls were recorded, along with indoor or outdoo...

For elderly people fall incidents are life-changing events that lead to degradation or even loss of autonomy. Current fall detection systems are not integrated and often associated with undetected falls and/or false alarms. In this paper, a social- and context-aware multi-sensor platform is presented, which integrates information gathered by a plethora of fall detection systems and sensors at t...

The stirring of a small, passive heterogeneity in an unsteady circulation is investigated by following the boundary of the heterogeneity; the circulation mimics features of plate-scale flow. After initial release, the heterogeneity is stirred and subsequently consists of at least one large "blob" connected to long, but thin tendrils. Tendrils exponentially lengthen and exponentially thin with t...

We consider simultaneous optical data obtained during the recent X-ray turn-off of CAL 83. Combining the optical behaviour with the observed X-ray decay time, we show that a model of cessation of steady nuclear burning is viable if the white dwarf is massive. Our model provides a natural explanation for the subsequent return of the supersoft X-ray emission.
