Two systems of nanoparticles with different surface states have been prepared by sol-gel methods and analysed by X-ray diffractometry, transmission electron microscopy, thermal analysis and temperature dependent Mossbauer spectroscopy. Surface states and phase content, particle mean size and the magnetic anisotropy energy constant were evaluated.

Recent advances in nanotechnology have permitted the development of a wide repertoire of inorganic magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) with extensive promise for biomedical applications. Despite this remarkable potential, many questions still arise concerning the biocompatible nature of NPs when in contact with biological systems. Herein, we have investigated how controlled changes in the physicochemi...

We present a microscopic model for nanoparticles, of the maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) type, and perform classical Monte Carlo simulations of their magnetic properties. On account of Mössbauer spectroscopy and high-field magnetisation results, we consider a particle as composed of a core and a surface shell of constant thickness. The magnetic state in the particle is described by the anisotropic classica...

Abstract A wise selection of tracers is critical for magnetic particle imaging (MPI). Most the current are based on superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) with a suitable coating. We prepared maghemite cores (γ-Fe 2 O 3 ) by coprecipitation Fe(II) and Fe(III) salts ammonium hydroxide followed oxidation hydrogen peroxide stabilization as an anionic ⊖ or cationic colloid ⨁ ). The wer...

This work is devoted on the rheological behavior of ethylene glycol based nanofluids containing maghemtite nanoparticles. The size of these maghemite nanoparticles was measured using XRD and found to be about <50 nm. Major factors that influence on viscosity and rheological behavior, such as, temperature and particle mass concentration, were investigated over 25–80°C and 0.2 and 2% respectivel...
