which permits unrestricted non-commercial use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Microscopic colitis (MC) is characterized by chronic watery diarrhea. MC comprises two entities: collagenous colitis (CC) and lymphocytic colitis (LC), which are separated by typical histopathological characteristics. The colonic mucosa appears endoscopicall...
Microscopic emission and fuel consumption models have been widely recognized as an effective method to quantify real traffic emission and energy consumption when they are applied with microscopic traffic simulation models. This paper presents a framework for developing the Microscopic Emission (HC, CO, NOx, and CO2) and Fuel consumption (MEF) models for light-duty vehicles. The variable of comp...
Pre-neutron fragment-yield distributions are calculated for the U(n, f) and Pu(n, f) reactions using a time-dependent fully microscopic approach. These yields are calculated as a function of incident neutron energy from thermal to 5 MeV. We show that our calculations are in good agreement with experimental results, and competitive in accuracy with more phenomenological approaches. Further impro...
We show that the scaling procedure, recently proposed for the evaluation of the temperature variation of the normalized upper critical field of type-II superconductors, may easily be modified in order to take into account a possible temperature dependence of the Ginzburg-Landau parameter κ. As an example we consider κ(T ) as it follows from the microscopic theory of superconductivity.
For a better understanding of the dynamics of exotic nuclei it is of crucial importance to develop a practical microscopic theory easy to be applied to a wide range of masses. Theoretically the basic task consists in formulating an easy solvable theory able to reproduce structures and transitions of known nuclei which should be then used to calculate the sparely known properties of protonor neu...
Molecular simulations can provide microscopic insight into the physical and chemical driving forces of complex molecular processes. Despite continued advancement of simulation methodology, model errors may lead to inconsistencies between simulated and reference (e.g., from experiments or higher-level simulations) observables. To bound the microscopic information generated by computer simulation...
Hellander, S. 2013. Stochastic Simulation of Reaction-Diffusion Processes. Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis. Digital Comprehensive Summaries of Uppsala Dissertations from the Faculty of Science and Technology 1042. 46 pp. Uppsala. ISBN 978-91-554-8667-9. Numerical simulation methods have become an important tool in the study of chemical reaction networks in living cells. Many systems can, with hi...
Intelligent Driver Model (IDM) is a well-known microscopic model of traffic flow within the traffic engineering societies. While it is a powerful technique for modeling traffic flows, the Intelligent Driver Model lacks the potential of accommodating the notion of drivers’ heterogeneous behavior whenever they are on roads. Concerning the above mentioned, this paper takes the lane to recognize th...
The history and recent developments in studying (colossal) magnetoresistance in perovskite manganese oxides is reviewed. We emphasize the growing evidence for strongly coupled spin, charge and lattice degrees of freedom. Together with disorder, these provide the microscopic driving forces for local and inhomogeneous textures. The modeling and experimental probes for localized charge–spin–lattic...
