Among nonneutralizing HIV-1 envelope antibodies (Abs), those capable of mediating antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) activity have been postulated to be important for control of HIV-1 infection. ADCC-mediating Ab must recognize HIV-1 antigens expressed on the membrane of infected cells and bind the Fcγ receptor (FcR) of the effector cell population. However, the precise targets of ...

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a significant human pathogen, and no vaccine is commercially available. Passive antibody prophylaxis using monoclonal antibodies (MAb) against protective P. aeruginosa epitopes is an alternative strategy for preventing P. aeruginosa infection, but mouse MAb are not suitable for use in humans. Polyclonal human antibodies from multiple donors have variable antibody titer...

A Streptococcus sanguis 133-79 adhesin identified by the monoclonal antibody 1.1 (MAb 1.1) binds both saliva-coated hydroxylapatite (sHA) and platelets. The complementary binding site(s) for the adhesin was identified by the anti-idiotypical MAb 2.1. To learn if this adhesion system, marked by the antiadhesin MAb 1.1 and anti-binding site MAb 2.1, is commonly used by strains within the sanguis ...

Monoclonal antibodies (MAb) specific for citrus tristeza virus (CTV) were obtained from hybrid cells produced by fusion of a non-secreting myeloma cell line with spleen cells from BALB/c mice immunized with isolate T-308 of CTV. Three MAb were characterized for their immunoglobulin isotype and their titres in cell culture and ascites fluids. Each MAb was conjugated with alkaline phosphatase and...

The hybridoma cell's maximum capacity for monoclonal antibody (MAb) production is estimated to be 2300-8000 MAb molecules/cell/s, using measured rates of transcription and translation, and the limitations imposed by the size of the polymerase molecule and the ribosome. Nearly all the production rates reported in the literature fall into or below this range of production rates. Data from batch c...

We thoroughly investigated the biological, structural and chemical stability of epidermal growth factor receptor monoclonal antibody (EGFR mAb) using choline-based buffered ionic liquids (BILs). The results demonstrated substantially enhanced stabilities in our BILs, indicating their huge promise as real-world green biological buffers for antibody storage and transportation.

Abstract Molecular Dynamics (MD) is a widely used drug design tool capable of rapidly screening the binding capacity many candidate inhibitors in cost-effective manner. This approach has been leveraged to search for molecules that can bind angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and prevent SARS-CoV-2 viral entry host cells. However, ACE2 difficult model due an embedded zinc ion (Zn), which intr...

Two murine-derived anti-methamphetamine monoclonal antibodies were studied as potential pharmacokinetic antagonists of (+)-methamphetamine self-administration by rats. Intravenous administration of a 1 g/kg dose of the lower affinity [antibody equilibrium dissociation constant (K(d)) = 250 nM] monoclonal antibody (mAb) designated mAb6H8, 1 day before the start of several daily 2-h self-administ...

Monoclonal antibodies are finding ever increasing therapeutic applications. However, lethal liver damage has been reported following monoclonal antibody (mAb) treatment in combination with subtoxic doses of cytotoxic drugs. In this study, mice were intravenously injected with 200 microg/mouse of anti-CD8 (anti-Lyt-2.2), anti-CD4 (GK1.5) or anti-B220 (RA3-6B2) mAb. Subsequently, mice were admini...
