We investigate a recent mesh subdivision scheme, allowing multiresolution analysis of irregular triangular meshes by the wavelet transforms. We consider the wavelet scheme construction in terms of an inverse problem. Some experimental results on different meshes prove the efficiency of this approach in multiresolution schemes. In addition we show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for ...

This paper presents a new automatic shot detection technique based on multiresolution histograms. Starting from an adaptive threshold filter, we extract shot cuts when multiresolution histogram peaks are significant enough. In the results section we present the recall and precision achieved on a video database composed by 61 AVI videos and 816 shots.

This paper links the non separable quincunx pyramid and the nonlinear discrete cell-average Harten’s multiresolution framework. In order to obtain the stability of these representations, some modified multiresolution processing algorithms are introduced. A prescribed accuracy in various discrete norms is ensured by these modified strategies. Explicit error bounds are presented.

This paper concerns the construction of highly symmetric compactly supported wavelets for hexagonal data/image and triangle surface multiresolution processing. Recently hexagonal image processing has attracted attention. Compared with the conventional square lattice, the hexagonal lattice has several advantages, including that it has higher symmetry. It is desirable that the filter banks for he...

Conventional microscopy, electron microscopy, and imaging techniques such as MRI and PET commonly generate large stacks of images of the sectioned brain. In other domains, such as neurophysiology, variables such as space or time are also varied along a stack axis. Digital image sizes have been progressively increasing and in virtual microscopy, it is now common to work with individual image siz...

We present a new algorithm for segmentation of textured images using a multiresolution Bayesian approach. The new algorithm uses a multiresolution Gaussian autoregressive (MGAR) model for the pyramid representation of the observed image, and assumes a multiscale Markov random field model for the class label pyramid. The models used in this paper incorporate correlations between different levels...

A new multiresolution quadrilateral plate element is proposed and a multiresolution finite element method is hence presented. The multiresolution analysis (MRA) framework is formulated out of a mutually nesting displacement subspace sequence, whose basis functions are constructed of scaling and shifting on the element domain of basic node shape function. The basic node shape function is constru...
