Reactions of [Pt(PCy(3))(2)] (Cy = cyclohexyl) with group 12 metal dihalides have afforded the novel metal only Lewis pair (MOLP) complexes, [(Cy(3)P)(2)Pt→MX(2)] (M = Zn or Cd, X = Br or I), or the oxidative addition product, trans-[(Cy(3)P)(2)(I)PtHgI]. The zinc complex represents the first MOLP to contain an unsupported Pt→Zn linkage.
We prove that the constraint languages invariant under a short sequence of Jónsson terms (containing at most three non-trivial ternary terms) are tractable by showing that they have bounded width. This improves the previous result by Kiss and Valeriote [16] and presents some evidence that the Larose-Zadori conjecture [19] holds in the congruence-
Biological nitrogen fixation is an essential function of acid mine drainage (AMD) microbial communities. However, most acidophiles in AMD environments are uncultured microorganisms and little is known about the diversity of nitrogen-fixing genes and structure of nif gene cluster in AMD microbial communities. In this study, we used metagenomic sequencing to isolate nif genes in the AMD microbial...
By means of density functional theory, the adsorption properties of O₂ molecule on both isolated and N-graphene supported gold clusters have been studied. The N-graphene is modeled by a C₆₅NH₂₂ cluster of finite size. The results indicate that the catalytic activity and the O₂ adsorption energies of odd-numbered Au clusters are larger than those of adjacent even-numbered ones. The O₂ molecule i...
The carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen K-edge spectra were measured for aqueous solutions of glycine by total electron yield near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (TEY NEXAFS) spectroscopy. The bulk solution pH was systematically varied while maintaining a constant amino acid concentration. Spectra were assigned through comparisons with both previous studies and ab initio computed spectra of isol...
Abstract The community structure of nitrogen-fixing endophytic bacteria associated with roots of three varieties, Oryza sativa cv. Sprice and cv. Koshihikari and line NERICA 5 (an interspecific hybrid between O. sativa and O. glaberrima) was analyzed using culture-independent molecular techniques. A segment of nifH gene was amplified from crude rice root DNA, cloned to construct nifH library an...
Soil quality is an important factor and maintained by inhabited microorganisms. Soil physicochemical characteristics determine indigenous microbial population and rice provides food security to major population of the world. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the impact of physicochemical variables on bacterial community composition and diversity in conventional paddy fields which could refl...
Due to the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization in recent decades, the majority of coastal rivers and estuaries in China have been moderately or severely contaminated by a variety of pollutants. We investigated the spatial and seasonal variations of water nutrients (permanganate index, chemical oxygen demand, biochemical oxygen demand, ammonium, nitrate, total nitrogen, and total ...
Nitrogenase catalyzed nitrogen fixation is the process by which life converts dinitrogen gas into fixed nitrogen in the form of bioavailable ammonia. The most common form of nitrogenase today requires a complex metal cluster containing molybdenum (Mo), although alternative forms exist which contain vanadium (V) or only iron (Fe). It has been suggested that Mo-independent forms of nitrogenase (V...
The nitrogen K-edge spectra of aqueous proline and diglycine solutions have been measured by total electron yield near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy at neutral and high pH. All observed spectral features have been assigned by comparison to the recently reported spectrum of aqueous glycine and calculated spectra of isolated amino acids and hydrated amino acid cluster...
