In this paper we point out a remarkable numerical relation between the large scale parameters of gravitation GN and H0 and the two fundamental parameters of quantum cromodynamics αQCD and ΛQCD. With this remark we make the conjecture that Newton’s gravitational constant could show an energy dependence analogous to αQCD. PACS:04.20.Ha, 04.90.+e ∗E-mail: [email protected]

Routine procedures for isolating and characterizing microorganisms capable of degrading toxic chemicals are time consuming and labor intensive. The objective of this paper is to describe a new method for screening aerobic bacterial isolates and consortia that will rapidly determine metabolic capacity for various toxic chemicals and access the use of various substrates as inducers in the degrada...

Users increasingly inform themselves of the latest news through online news services. This is further accentuated by the increasingly seamless integration of social network platforms such as Twitter and Facebook into news websites, allowing easy content sharing and distribution. This makes online social network platforms of particular interest to news providers. For instance, online news produc...

We calculate 2-point correlators for New Massive Gravity at the chiral point and find that they behave precisely as those of a logarithmic conformal field theory, which is characterized in addition to the central charges cL = cR = 0 by ‘new anomalies’ bL = bR = −σ 12l GN , where σ is the sign of the Einstein–Hilbert term, l the AdS radius and GN Newton’s constant.

In analyzing neutrino oscillation experiments it is often assumed that while new physics contributes to neutrino masses, neutrino interactions are given by the Standard Model. We develop a formalism to study new physics effects in neutrino interactions using oscillation experiments. We argue that the notion of branching ratio is not appropriate in this case. We show that a neutrino appearance e...

Whether they are modeling bookmarking behavior in Flickr or cascades of failure in large networks, models of diffusion often start with the assumption that a few nodes start long chain reactions, resulting in large-scale cascades. While reasonable under some conditions, this assumption may not hold for social media networks, where user engagement is high and information may enter a system from ...

This is the seventh edition of the Colorado State University (CSU)-CHILL newsletter which we distribute on an annual basis, near the start of the academic year. The newsletter is intended to provide information to the community regarding research, education, and refurbishment activities of the CSUCHILL facility. In April 1995 Colorado State University was awarded a second five-year Cooperative ...

Valuable models for immortal solutions of Ricci ‡ow that collapse with bounded curvature come from locally G-invariant solutions on bundles GN ,! M !Bn, with G a nilpotent Lie group. In this paper, we establish convergence and asymptotic stability, modulo smooth …nite-dimensional center manifolds, of certain RN -invariant model solutions. In case N + n = 3, our results are relevant to work of ...

We show that, by using resummation techniques based on the extension of the methods of Yennie, Frautschi and Suura to Feynman’s formulation of Einstein’s theory, we get calculable loop corrections that are even (superficially) free of UV divergences. The UV finiteness of the loops results from resumming large IR terms O(GN|k 2 |ln|k 2 |) n , n = 1,..., for |k 2 | , where GN is Newton’s constant...
