Population supplementation programs that release captive-bred offspring into the wild to boost the size of endangered populations are now in place for many species. The use of hatcheries for supplementing salmonid populations has become particularly popular. Nevertheless, whether such programs actually increase the size of wild populations remains unclear, and predictions that supplementation f...
This work shows that the atypical erythrocytes in triploid rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss were morphologically similar to those of toads. The nuclei of the cells can be bell-shaped, constricted or irregular. It is presumed that such nuclear division is probably amitosis.
The genome sequence of Flavobacterium psychrophilum strain CSF259-93, isolated from rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), consists of a single circular genome of 2,900,735 bp and 2,701 predicted open reading frames (ORFs). Strain CSF259-93 has been used to select a line of rainbow trout with increased genetic resistance against bacterial cold water disease.

Abstract The McCloud River Redband Trout (MRRT; Oncorhynchus mykiss stonei ) is a unique subspecies of rainbow trout that inhabits the isolated Upper Northern California. A major threat to MRRT introgressive hybridization with non-native from historical stocking and contemporary unauthorized introductions. To help address this concern, we collected RAD-sequencing data on 308 total individuals o...
Salmonids frequently adapt their feeding and movement strategies to cope with seasonally fluctuating stream environments. Oncorhynchus mykiss tend drift-forage in higher velocity habitat than other salmonids, yet presence streams low drift suggests behavioral flexibility. We combined 3D videogrammetry measurements of invertebrate hydraulics investigate the drivers O. foraging mode during season...
