The main difficulty in realizing quantum computation and quantum-information processing for single photon qubits is the optical implementation of controlled interactions between individual qubits. A deterministic interaction between separate photons would require the ability to apply strong nonlinearities during well-defined time intervals @1#. At present, there are still many technological dif...

All-optical logic gates OR, XOR, AND, and NOT based on two-dimensional (2D) plasmonic metal-insulator-metal (MIM) coupled with an elliptical ring resonator (ERR) are presented, simulated, investigated by using the numerical method of FEM (finite elements method). The results compared validated finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. proposed achieved same structure constructive destructive...

Reversible logic has attracted significant attention in recent years. It has applications in low power CMOS, quantum computing, nanotechnology, and optical computing. Traditional gates such as AND, OR, and EXOR are not reversible. In fact NOT is the only reversible gate from the traditional set of gates. Several reversible gates have been proposed. Among them are the controlled NOT (also known ...

Traditional cost-benefit analysis (CBA) quantifies the value of information security safeguards in terms of their expenses compared to their savings before and after their implementation. This paper considers CBA from the attacker's viewpoint, adding another type of measurement, the willingness to endure consequences. We propose a new set of equations and examine their implications vis-à-vis tw...

We have fabricated narrow channel Si-MOSFETs for electron transport studies at low temperature. The fabrication process combines optical lithography for large structures and high resolution e-beam lithography for narrow gates. The smallest working devices have a 0.14 pm wide gate. This paper reports the fabrication process and gives some examples of the quantum transport phenomena observed in t...

We propose and demonstrate a new technique for realizing wavelength tuning that promises rapid response over a wide optical bandwidth. Wavelength tuning is obtained by varying the delay of the RF pulse that time-gates a linearly chirped Super Continuum (SC). Preliminary experiments demonstrating static tuning range of 90nm are reported.

Imaging of a weak target hidden behind a scattering medium can be significantly confounded by glare. We report a method, termed coherence gated negation (CGN), that uses destructive optical interference to suppress glare and allow improved imaging of a weak target. As a demonstration, we show that by permuting through a set range of amplitude and phase values for a reference beam interfering wi...
