background otomycosis is a superficial fungal infection often involves the pinna and external auditory canal. it is a pathologic condition, with candida and aspergillus, the most common fungal species. it is common worldwide but more prevalent in tropical and subtropical countries results otomycosis was diagnosed in 129 cases (92%, 76 male, 53 female) with the highest prevalence of cases occurr...

In Niger, the epidemiological situation regarding foot-and-mouth disease is unclear as many outbreaks are unreported. This study aimed (i) to identify Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) strains currently circulating in cattle herds, and (ii) to identify risk factors associated with Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD)-seropositive animals in clinical outbreaks. Epithelial tissues (n = 25) and sera (n ...

Transcription of two unfolded protein response genes, hacA and bipA, was examined in Aspergillus niger strains overproducing membrane proteins. Despite elevated bipA mRNA levels, no 5'-truncated hacA transcript was detected, raising the possibility of a hacA-independent induction of bipA mRNA under the stress of membrane protein overproduction in A. niger.

Aspergillus niger secretes three glycosylated glycosyl hydrolases which are involved in degradation of the plant cell wall polysaccharide L-arabinan: alpha-L-arabinofuranosidases (ABF) A and B, and endo-1,5-alpha-L-arabinase (ABN) A. The nucleotide sequence of the previously cloned gene encoding ABF A (abfA) from A. niger was determined. The coding region contains seven introns. Mature ABF A co...

The faeB gene encoding a second feruloyl esterase from Aspergillus niger has been cloned and characterized. It consists of an open reading frame of 1644 bp containing one intron. The gene encodes a protein of 521 amino acids that has sequence similarity to that of an Aspergillus oryzae tannase. However, the encoded enzyme, feruloyl esterase B (FAEB), does not have tannase activity. Comparison o...

Despite a long and successful history of citrate production in Aspergillus niger, the molecular mechanism of citrate accumulation is only partially understood. In this study, we used comparative genomics and transcriptome analysis of citrate-producing strains-namely, A. niger H915-1 (citrate titer: 157 g L-1), A1 (117 g L-1), and L2 (76 g L-1)-to gain a genome-wide view of the mechanism of citr...

The study is concerned with the isolation and screening of Aspergillus niger strains for the biosynthesis of acid protease using solid state fermentation. Thirteen A. niger strains capable of producing proteases were isolated from the soil. Of all the isolates, Aspergillus niger IHG9 was found to be the best producer of protease. Different agricultural by-products were evaluated as fermentation...

Seventy-three fungal species belonging to forty-three genera were isolated from 40 samples of Saccharrum officinarum (collected from Naage-Hamadi canal in Qena Governorate, Egypt). Aspergillus, Trichoderma, Mucor and Pythium were the most common genera on the two isolation media. The dominant species of Aspergillus were A. niger, A. flavus, A. ustus, A. terreus and A. wentii. Some species were ...

BACKGROUND The filamentous fungus Aspergillus niger is widely exploited as an important expression host for industrial production. The glucoamylase high-producing strain A. niger CICC2462 has been used as a host strain for the establishment of a secretion expression system. It expresses recombinant xylanase, mannase and asparaginase at a high level, but some high secretory background proteins i...

BACKGROUND Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (IBDV) causes a highly immunosuppressive disease in chickens and is a pathogen of major economic importance to the poultry industry worldwide. The VP2 protein is the major host-protective immunogen of IBDV and has been considered as a potential subunit vaccine against the disease. VP2 coding sequence was cloned in an inducible fungal vector and the pro...
