We report a case of vertebral osteochondroma of C1 causing cord compression and myelopathy in a patient with hereditary multiple exostosis. We highlight the importance of early diagnosis and the appropriate surgery in order to obtain a satisfactory outcome.
A mass almost completely obstructing the tracheal lumen was detected during endoscopic investigation of dyspnoea in a four-month-old golden retriever. Histopathology was consistent with osteochondroma. The lesion was ablated using endoscopic diode laser ablation.
Osteochondroma is an osseous protuberance with cartilaginous growth potential that usually forms at the ends of long bones such as knee, hip, shoulder and joints(1). Osteochondromas are one of the most common benign tumours of bone, approximately 35% to 50% of all benign tumors and 8% to 15% of all primary bone tumors (2). Only about 1% of these occur within the head and neck region (1). The mo...

We present a case of a 5th Lumbar Vertebra (L5) spinous process osteochondroma as a rare cause of lumbar pain in an old patient. A 70-year-old male presented with progressive and disabling lower lumbar pain. Tenderness over the central and left paraspinal area of the lower lumbar region and a palpable mass were evident. CT scan showed a mass arising from the spinous process of L5. Marginal rese...
We report a case of an osteochondroma in the posterior clinoid process that occurred in a 43-year-old man with trochlear nerve palsy. Although the potential preoperative diagnoses based on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging included other intracranial tumors such as calcified meningioma, thallium-201 single-photon emission computed tomography effectively differentiated osteochon...
Introduction: Chondrosarcoma complicating osteochondromatous lesions is a microscopic diagnosis which treatment is based on surgical excision. These tumors need a close followup because the recovery can be ascertained only after 10 years of follow-up. Case Report: A 19-year-old male who presented respiratory symptoms and whose past medical history was remarkable for a previously noted cartilagi...
Although it is one of the most common benign tumors of bone in the axial skeleton, the osteochondroma is relatively rare in the maxillofacial region. Its discovery on the coronoid process is even more rare. First described by Jacob in 1899, it remains a rare entity as only a few reported cases have been described in the literature. Nevertheless, the symptomatic features remain relatively nonspe...
Osteochondroma is the most common benign tumor or tumorlike lesion of bone. The radiographic appearance is often diagnostic, that is, a lesion composed of cortical and medullary bone with a cartilage cap. These lesions may be solitary or multiple, with the latter associated with the syndrome HME. Complications are commonly associated with its exophytic nature and include cosmetic and osseous de...
