PS-TEMPO, a polymer-supported 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) was successfully applied as a recyclable, active and selective catalyst for the oxidation of alcohols. Bleach, molecular oxygen and air were successfully used as terminal oxidant under conditions suitable for industrial applications. The intrinsic activity and selectivity of TEMPO for primary alcohols to aldehydes were r...

Molecular catalysts are known for their high activity and tunability, but their solubility and limited stability often restrict their use in practical applications. Here we describe how a molecular iridium catalyst for water oxidation directly and robustly binds to oxide surfaces without the need for any external stimulus or additional linking groups. On conductive electrode surfaces, this hete...

The development of metal-catalyzed methods for promoting reactions and regioand steroselectivity has greatly advanced in recent years. One of the foremost metal-catalyst is palladium. Its versatile function and tolerance make it an excellent choice in organic synthesis. Pd catalyst offers abundant possibilities in the formation of bonds both carbon-carbon bonds and heteroatom bonds. One can see...

surface of mesostructured silica, kit-6, was modified by grafting 3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane (aptes) to have the positive charge, and thus, to provide sites for the immobilization of h3pw12o40 (pw12).  this modified-nanosized mesoporous silica (pw12-aptes@ kit-6) was characterized by ftir, xrd, bet and tem. the oxidation of sulfides occurs effectively and selectively with h2o2 as the oxidant...

Stimulated by the report of high-yield, low-temperature catalytic conversion of methane to methyl bisulfate (Periana et al., Science 1998, 280, 560), we studied the relative stability and reaction mechanism of the Pt(NH3)2Cl2 and Pt(bpym)Cl2 complexes in concentrated sulfuric acid. We find that the mechanism involves a series of steps beginning with C-H activation to form an intermediate ion-pa...

Industrial hydrogen production through methane steam reforming exceeds 50 million tons annually and accounts for 2-5% of global energy consumption. The hydrogen product, even after processing by the water-gas shift, still typically contains ∼1% CO, which must be removed for many applications. Methanation (CO + 3H2 → CH4 + H2O) is an effective solution to this problem, but consumes 5-15% of the ...

A novel, efficient, convenient and environmentally friendly approach for the synthesis of nitriles and imines from primary amines has been developed. Using commercially available red copper as the catalyst, ammonium bromide as the co-catalyst and molecular oxygen as the sole oxidant, nitriles and imines can be afforded in high yields through benzylic oxidation.

A formal anti-Markovnikov hydroamination of allylic alcohols using a Ru catalyst via tandem oxidation/1,4-conjugate addition/1,2-reduction was developed. Thus, the reaction of allylic alcohols with amines was performed in the presence of the catalyst generated from RuClH(CO)(PPh3)3 and 2,6-bis(n-butyliminomethyl)pyridine in situ to afford the corresponding γ-amino alcohols efficiently.

An environmentally friendly ("green"), H2-generation system was developed that involved hydrolytic oxidation of inexpensive organosilanes as hydrogen storage materials with newly developed heterogeneous gold nanoparticle catalysts. The gold catalyst functioned well at ambient temperature under aerobic conditions, providing efficient production of pure H2. The newly developed size-selective gold...

8 ABSTRACT: A pentamethylcyclopentadienyl (Cp*) iridium water9 oxidation precatalyst was modified to include a silatrane functional group 10 for covalent attachment to metal oxide semiconductor surfaces. The 11 heterogenized catalyst was found to perform electrochemically driven 12 water oxidation at an overpotential of 462 mV with a turnover number of 13 304 and turnover frequency of 0.035 s−1...
