BACKGROUND Bacteria in the Pantoea genus are plant and soil associated Gram-negative rods described as nosocomial pathogens and as rare causes of community-acquired infections. The latter have been classically associated with gardening and plant thorn injuries and immunocompromised states are additional risk factors. We report a patient with pica and geophagia, Pantoea sepsis, and sickle cell c...

A novel strain LTYR-11ZT that exhibited multiple plant growth promoting (PGP) traits was isolated from the surface-sterilized leaves of Alhagi sparsifolia Shap. (Leguminosae), which reprsents one of the top drought tolerant plants in north-west China. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences and multilocus sequence analysis based on partial sequences of atpD, gyrB, infB and rpoB genes r...

Pantoea stewartii is known to be the causative agent of Stewart's wilt, which usually affects sweet corn (Zea mays) with the corn flea beetle as the transmission vector. In this work, we present the whole-genome sequence of Pantoea stewartii strain M009, isolated from a Malaysian tropical rainforest waterfall.

The genomes of Pantoea calida DSM 22759T and Pantoea gaviniae DSM 22758T were sequenced using single-molecule real-time sequencing. They consist of a 4.3-Mbp chromosome containing 4,092 genes, of which 3,977 encode proteins, and a 4.5-Mbp chromosome containing 4,236 genes, of which 4,120 encode proteins, respectively.

The genus Pantoea incorporates many economically and clinically important species. The plant-associated species, Pantoea agglomerans and Pantoea vagans, are closely related and are often isolated from similar environments. Plasmids conferring certain metabolic capabilities are also shared amongst these two species. The genomes of two isolates obtained from fungus-growing termites in South Afric...

Pantoea agglomerans is a Gram-negative bacterium whose isolates can be found in blood cultures and other secretions. This article described one outbreak of sepsis due to this bacterium in the pediatric urgent care center of a tertiary hospital, in Brasilia, Federal District. This was a case-control study and it evaluated the risk factors for acquisition of nosocomial sepsis caused by Pantoea ag...

The epiphyte Pantoea agglomerans 48b/90 (Pa48b) is a promising biocontrol strain against economically important bacterial pathogens such as Erwinia amylovora. Strain Pa48b produces the broad-spectrum antibiotic 2-amino-3-(oxirane-2,3-dicarboxamido)-propanoyl-valine (APV) in a temperature-dependent manner. An APV-negative mutant still suppressed the E. amylovora population and fire blight diseas...
