Coniferous trees have both constitutive and inducible defences that deter or kill herbivores and pathogens. We investigated constitutive and induced monoterpene responses of jack pine (Pinus banksiana Lamb.) to a number of damage types: a fungal associate of the mountain pine beetle (Dendroctonus ponderosae Hopkins), Grosmannia clavigera (Robinson-Jeffrey & R.W. Davidson); two phytohormones, me...

Bacillus aryabhattai strain SQU-R12 was isolated from date palm seedlings, where it showed a growth-promoting capacity by being able to synthesize indole-3-acetic acid phytohormone and reduce ethylene biosynthesis by producing 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid deaminase. The draft genome sequence of this strain is reported here.

Caulobacter vibrioides T5M6 is a Gram-negative strain that strongly solubilizes selenium (Se) mineral into Se(IV) and was isolated from a selenium mining area in Enshi, southwest China. This strain produces the phytohormone IAA and promotes plant growth. Here we present the genome of this strain containing a large number of genes encoding resistances to copper and antibiotics.

Small molecules capable of uncoupling growth-defense in plants are currently not known. In this study, for the first time, semi-synthetic analogues of the phytohormone JA-Ile are employed to uncouple growth and defense responses in wild tobacco. The JA-Ile analogues are easily synthesized from inexpensive substrates via olefin metathesis.

The objective of this study was to examine the whole genome bacterial strain CIP111899, isolated from root surface maize (Zea mays), in order reveal presence genes implicated enhancing plant growth. genome-based taxonomy revealed that CIP111899 belongs a new species called Bacillus rhizoplanae. In second step, analyzed on multiple levels using various information tools. This involved examining ...

Phytohormones control the development and growth of plants, as well as their response to biotic and abiotic stress. The seven most well-studied phytohormone classes defined today are as follows: auxins, ethylene, cytokinin, abscisic acid, jasmonic acid, gibberellins, and brassinosteroids. The basic principle of hormone regulation is conserved in all plants, but recent results suggest adaptation...

bacteria of the genus azospirillum are well known as plant growth promoting rhizobacteria. the ability to synthesize phytohormones is considered one of the most important mechanisms to promote plant growth and is widely distributed among plant-associated rhizobacteria.the most important phytohormone produced by azospirillum is the auxin indole-3-acetic acid, with the l-tryptophan as the precurs...

Abstract Inadequate winter chill causes poor budbreak in blackberry ( Rubus L. subgenus Watson), limiting the commercial production subtropics. In ‘Natchez’ blackberry, our previous study found that, under inadequate chilling conditions, urea and lime sulfur (LS) applied as defoliants before accumulation advanced but did not improve final budbreak. this study, we two at end of examined their ef...

The timing of seedling emergence is a major agricultural and ecological fitness trait, seed germination controlled by complex molecular network including phytohormone signalling. One such phytohormone, abscisic acid (ABA), controls large array stress developmental processes, researchers have long known it plays crucial role in repressing germination. Although the main components ABA signalling ...

A small region of the Ti plasmid (the tmr locus), thought to be involved in phytohormone metabolism in Agrobacterium tumefaciens-transformed plant tissue, was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. By enzyme assay, the tmr locus was shown to encode isopentenyltransferase, an enzyme that catalyzes the first step in cytokinin biosynthesis.
