We study singularities of the n-body problem in spaces of constant curvature and generalize certain results due to Painlevé, Weierstrass, and Sundman. For positive curvature, some of our proofs use the correspondence between total collision solutions of the original system and their orthogonal projection—a property that offers a new method of approaching the problem in this particular case.

We present a method for 3D human motion capture using a single camera, without markers and without a priori knowledge on gestures. It is based on registering a 3D articulated model on color images with respect to biomechanical constraints. Gestures regularization is discussed as a way to cope with projection ambiguities. Computation is reduced by registering only the moving parts of the body.

We investigate some properties of coordinate projections. Among other results, we show that if a body K ⊂ Rn has an “almost extremal” volume ratio, then it has a projection of proportional dimension which is close to the cube. We also establish a sharp estimate on the shattering dimension of a convex hull of a class of functions.

A general recipe is developed for the study of rigid body dynamics in terms of Poincaré surfaces of section. A section condition is chosen which captures every trajectory on a given energy surface. The possible topological types of the corresponding surfaces of section are determined, and their 1:1 projection to a conveniently defined torus is proposed for graphical rendering.
