Metallic nanostructures (NSs) have been widely adapted in various applications and their physical, chemical, optical and catalytic properties are strongly dependent on their surface morphologies. In this work, the morphological and optical evolution of self-assembled Pt nanostructures on c-plane sapphire (0001) is demonstrated by the control of annealing temperature and dwelling duration with t...

studies of the magnetization of fe2o3@pt nanoparticles at room temperature showed that there is superparamagnetic contribution with high saturation magnetization about 12.35(emu/g), and soft ferromagnetic contribution with narrow coercive field about 58(oe). in this paper we fitted the hystersis loop of sample with brillouin function that demonstrating existence of superparamagnetic phase. tota...

Carbon riveted Pt/C catalyst was designed and prepared by in situ carbonized glucose in this paper. Characterization results show that carbon riveted Pt/C prevents Pt nanoparticles from coalescence. Its stability is markedly enhanced due to the anchoring effect of the carbon layers formed during the carbon riveting process.

TiO(2) loading Pt nanoparticles (Pt@TiO(2)) promote one-pot synthesis of imines from alcohols and amines under UV irradiation at room temperature. This is achieved via a Pt-assisted photocatalytic oxidation of alcohols and a catalytic condensation of the formed aldehydes with amines on the TiO(2) surface.

Chromium oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by the reduction of potassium dichromate solution with Mukia Maderaspatana plant extract. In electrochemical methods, Cr2O3 nanoparticles were synthesized by two ways, using platinum (Pt) electrodes and K2Cr2O7 solution with H2SO4 as medium in the first case. And chromium doped platinum electrode (Pt/Cr) in presence of NaHCO3 solution in second case...

Binary Pt/Pd nanoparticles were synthesized by localized overgrowth of Pd on cubic Pt seeds for the investigation of electrocatalytic formic acid oxidation. The binary particles exhibited much less self-poisoning and a lower activation energy relative to Pt nanocubes, consistent with the single crystal study.

A thin nitrogen-doped graphitic carbon layer is elaborately introduced into the Pt/C surface to not only inhibit migration and dissolution of Pt nanoparticles, but also impart activity to the integral catalyst without blocking the inner Pt catalytic active sites. The corrosion of the carbon support can also be alleviated due to the outer graphitic coverage.

Platinum (Pt) nanoparticles with <4 nm diameter loaded on graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) by reduction at 673 K behave as efficient co-catalysts for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution under visible light (λ >420 nm). This is achieved by strong Pt-support interaction due to the high temperature treatment, which facilitates efficient transfer of photoformed conduction band electrons on g-C3N4 to...

Shape- and size-controlled syntheses of metal nanoparticles have been achieved by galvanic displacement reaction between an aqueous solution of metal salt and Cu foil substrate. In particular, cubic and spheric nanoparticles of Pt (Au) with a fairly narrow size distribution were produced by reacting K(2)PtCl(4) (HAuCl(4)) with a Cu foil in an aqueous medium with and without CuCl(2) under differ...

Understanding and controlling the electrochemical stability or corrosion behavior of nanometer-scale solids is vitally important in a variety of applications such as nanoscale electronics, sensing, and catalysis. For many applications, the increased surface to volume ratio achieved by particle size reduction leads to lower materials cost and higher efficiency, but there are questions as to whet...
