in this paper we study triangularization of collections of matrices whose entries come from a finite-dimensional division ring. first, we give a generalization of guralnick's theorem to the case of finite-dimensional division rings and then we show that in this case the reduced trace function is a suitable alternative for trace function by presenting two triangularization results. the firs...

Deadlock free routing of messages is a challenge for the performance of directly connected network systems. Communication among the nodes of a directly connected multicomputer system is via message exchange. The wormhole routing is perceived as the best switching technique in directly connected systems. The technique suffers the challenges like deadlock avoidance. Deadlock recovery faces cost o...

The standard technique of reduced cost fixing from linear programming is not trivially extensible to semidefinite relaxations as the corresponding Lagrange multipliers are usually not available. We propose a general technique for computing reasonable Lagrange multipliers to constraints which are not part of the problem description. Its specialization to the semidefinite {−1 1} relaxation of qua...

The renormalization group (RG) method is extended for global asymptotic analysis of discrete systems. We show that the RG equation in the discretized form leads to difference equations corresponding to the Stuart-Landau or Ginzburg-Landau equations. We propose a discretization scheme which leads to a faithful discretization of the reduced dynamics of the original differential equations.

This paper considers the stabilization problem of nonlinear systems with center manifold (center systems). A new method based on (system) immersion and (manifold) invariance (I&I) is introduced to stabilize the center systems. One of the key steps is to define a target dynamics whose order should be strictly smaller than that of the system to be controlled. For the center systems, we prove that...

Cooperative defensive systems communicate and cooperate in their response to worm attacks, but determine the presence of a worm attack solely on local information. Distributed worm detection and immunization systems track suspicious behavior at multiple cooperating nodes to determine whether a worm attack is in progress. Earlier work has shown that cooperative systems can respond quickly to day...

There has been much research on network flows over time due to their important role in real world applications. This has led to many results, but the more challenging continuous time model still lacks some of the key concepts and techniques that are the cornerstones of static network flows. The aim of this paper is to advance the state of the art for dynamic network flows by developing the cont...

The Minimum Spanning Tree Problem (MSTP) is one of the most known combinatorial optimization problems. It concerns the determination of a minimum edge-cost subgraph spanning all the vertices of a given connected graph. The Quadratic Minimum Spanning Tree Problem (QMSTP) is a variant of the MST whose cost considers also the interaction between every pair of edges of the tree. In this paper we re...
