The genome of the rhizobacterium Bacillus amyloliquefaciens subsp. plantarum CAU B946 was 4.02 Mb in size and harbored 3,823 genes (coding sequences [CDS]). Nine giant gene clusters were dedicated to nonribosomal synthesis of antimicrobial compounds. Remarkably, strain CAU B946 possessed a gene cluster involved in synthesis of iturin A.

In order to investigate the effect of different treatments of  intercropping sugarcane with two types of legumes on some quantitative and qualitative propertys of sugarcane, an experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design with 14 treatments and four replications in two locations in Ahvaz, Iran in 2016-2017. The treatments included: Pure Sugarcane, Pure Soybean, Pure Cowpea, Pu...

1. Total body, intracellular, and extracellular electrolyte and acid-base changes were studied following sodium nitrate-induced potassium and chloride depletion and subsequent selective chloride repletion. 2. It was found that potassium and chloride depletion was associated with markedly decreased extracellular Na, K, CI and water content. Intracellular Na increased, intracellular K decreased a...

Pili synthesized by the type III secretion system of Rhizobium species strain NGR234 are essential for protein secretion and thus for efficient symbiosis with many legumes. Isolation and partial purification of these pili showed that they are composed of at least three proteins, NopA, NopB, and NopX. Using biochemical assays, we show here that these proteins interact directly with one another.

Manganese oxides occur in a wide range of environmental settings either as coatings on rocks, sediment, and soil particles, or discrete grains. Although the production biologically mediated Mn is well established, relatively little known about microbial-specific strategies for utilizing environment how these affect morphology, structure, chemistry associated mineralizations. Defining such chara...

Plasmids have played a major role in bacterial evolution, mainly by their capacity to perform horizontal gene transfer (HGT). Their conjugative transfer (CT) properties are usually described in terms of the plasmid itself. In this work, we analyzed structural and functional aspects of the CT of pLPU83a, an accessory replicon from Rhizobium sp. LPU83, able to transfer from its parental strain, f...

Rhizobial Nod factors (NFs) function as nodulation signals that trigger symbiotic responses of leguminous host plants. NFs consist of a chitin oligomer backbone carrying a fatty acid at the non-reducing end. Depending on the rhizobial strain, NFs carry additional substituents, which may determine host specificity. Transgenic suspension-cultured soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr.) cells expressing ...
