a newly developed natural rubber deproteinization process produces deproteinized natural rubber (dpnr) wastewater as an intermediate product containing a high concentration of sodium dodecyl sulfate (sds) and rubber. in this study, a novel process to recover the residual rubber and energy as methane from dpnr wastewater was developed. as a pretreatment, sds and residual rubber in dpnr wastewate...

Natural rubber (NR) is stored in latex as rubber particles (RPs), rubber molecules surrounded by a lipid monolayer. Rubber transferase (RTase), the enzyme responsible for NR biosynthesis, is believed to be a member of the cis-prenyltransferase (cPT) family. However, none of the recombinant cPTs have shown RTase activity independently. We show that HRT1, a cPT from Heveabrasiliensis, exhibits di...

Rubber industry has increased the requirements for quality and uniformity of natural rubber produced in Brazil. Technological properties of latex and natural rubber of clones GT 1, PB 235, IAN 873 and RRIM 600 [Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. Former Adr. de Juss.) Muell.Arg] were evaluated by standard methods of the dry rubber content (DRC%), percentage of nitrogen (N%) and percentage of ashes (ASH%...

Strain M was isolated from the latex of Hevea brasiliensis that grow in the rubber farm area of Malaysia Rubber Board. Strain M was tentatively identified as Bacillus sp. Strain M demonstrated high protease production at pH 9, and this was suitable to be applied in rubber processing that was in alkaline conditions. The right and suitable proportion to be used in applying supernatant into the la...

An orthopaedic surgeon developed dermatitis from acrylic materials. The acrylic monomer was found to penetrate surgical rubber gloves readily. Cases of "rubber glove dermatitis" with negative patch tests may have a similar explanation. Laboratory tests suggest that monomer does not damage rubber sufficiently to allow bacteria to penetrate gloves, but it remains possible that this would happen u...

This chapter gives an introduction on the general aspects of cellulose, natural rubber and their bionanocomposites. A brief literature review on what has been done so far on the cellulose, natural rubber nanocomposites research area is also included in this chapter. This chapter also describes the structure, properties and characterization of cellulose as a biobased nanomaterial in natural rubber.

The application of 2-(3,4-dichlorophenoxy)-triethylamine to guayule (Parthenium argentatum Gray var 593) plants results in a 2-fold stimulation of rubber synthesis and a 1.5- to 3-fold increase in mevalonic acid kinase, isopentenyl pyrophosphate isomerase, and rubber transferase. The increase in these enzymic activities accounts in part for the chemical induction of rubber synthesis.

The adjoint variable method is applied for the first time to perform sensitivity analysis with transmission line modeling exploiting rubber cells. Rubber cells allow for the conformal modeling of off-grid boundaries in the transmission line modeling computational domain using modified tensor properties. The scattering matrix of the rubber cell is analytically dependent on the dimensions of the ...

Background Rubber tree [Hevea Braziliensis (Willd. ex Adr. de Juss.) Muell-Arg.], a native species of the Amazon Rainforest in South America, belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family, is world’s major source of natural latex. Brazil, despite being the center of origin and diversity of the species and latex main producer at the end of XIX century, nowadays imports around 70% of the rubber consumed ...

Objective: Xenomelia, that is, the nonacceptance of one’s own limb, is an intriguing but little understood condition. We sought to further test the most prominent neuroscientific hypothesis that suggests xenomelia results from a breakdown in multisensory integration for the affected body part. Method: A ”rubber foot illusion” paradigm was developed and tested in healthy participants and in indi...
