A rapid and specific aptamer-based surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) for the detection of S. enterica at a serovar level was developed. The aptamer modified in this research with an additional short chain adenine fluorescein molecule. SERS method could differentiate between subsp. Enteritidis (S. Enteritidis) Gaminara Gaminara) allowed in-vitro 3 log CFU/mL. characteristic peaks 1184 7...

INTRODUCTION The objective of this study was to evaluate the involvement of the ompR gene in the acid adaptation and thermal resistance of S. Enteritidis SE86, responsible agent of more than 95 % of investigated food-borne diseases, throughout the last decade in Southern Brazil. In this study, we constructed a mutant strain of S. Enteritidis SE86 (ΔompR) that was attenuated by a knockout techni...

Salmonella enterica serovar (S.) Enteritidis is an important cause of food-borne infection in Europe and the United States. Further subtyping of isolates is necessary to support epidemiological data for the detection of outbreaks and identification of the vehicle of infection. Multilocus variable-number tandem-repeat analysis (MLVA) is reportedly more discriminatory and produces data that are e...

The diversity of pulsed-field profiles (PFPs) within non-typhoidal Salmonella subtypes influences epidemiological analyses of Salmonella outbreaks. Therefore, determining the PFP diversity of each Salmonella serovar is important when evaluating current circulating strains. This study examined the PFP diversity of three important public health Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovars, S....

Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis emerged in the late 1980s as the most isolated Salmonella serovar worldwide. Here, we report the draft genomes of 256 S Enteritidis strains isolated from humans, food, chickens, and farm environments in Brazil. These draft genomes will help enhance our understanding of this serovar in Brazil.

Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis is an important zoonotic food-borne pathogen causing serious human illnesses frequently linked to poultry products. Here, we report fully assembled genome sequences of 16 S. Enteritidis strains with common pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and phage types (8, 13, 13a, and 14b) that predominate in North America.

Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serotype Enteritidis is one of the major causes of gastroenteritis in humans due to consumption of poultry derivatives. Here we report the whole-genome sequence and annotation, including the virulence plasmid, of S. Enteritidis LA5, which is a chicken isolate used by numerous laboratories in virulence studies.

We report the genome sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Give (CFSAN012622), isolated from imported chili powder in 2014. This genome contains genes previously reported to be specific only to S. enterica serovar Enteritidis. This strain shows a unique pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) pattern clustering with serovar Enteritidis (JEG X01.0005).

To improve pulsed-field gel electrophoresis-based strain discrimination of 76 Salmonella Enteritidis strains, we evaluated 6 macro-restriction endonucleases, separately and in various combinations. One 3-enzyme subset, SfiI/PacI/NotI, was highly discriminatory. Five different indices, including the Simpson diversity index, supported this 3-enzyme combination for improved differentiation of S. E...
