The potential of "click" 1,2,3-triazoles to act as mono-dentate ligands in late transition metal complexes is explored relative to other commonly-used Lewis bases and it is shown that their coordination strength, determined by their 1- and 4-substituents, is easily tunable.

A new ruthenium (III) Schiff base complexes of the type [RuX2 (PPh3)2(L)] (where X = Cl or Br; L = monobasic bidentate Ligand) have been synthesized. All the complexes were characterized by analytical, IR, electronic and EPR spectral studies. An octahedral geometry has been tentatively proposed to all the new complexes. Further the ligands and complexes were subjected to antimicrobial activity ...

Schiff bases are versatile ligands which are synthesized from the condensation of an amino compound with carbonyl compounds. These compounds and their metal complexes are very important as catalysts in various biological systems, polymers, dyes and medicinal and pharmaceutical fields. Their use in birth control, food packages and as an O2 detector is also outlined. This review summarizes the ap...

New metal complexes of Schiff base (PB) prepared from condensation reaction of 2-aminopyridine and 6-formyl-5,7-dihydroxy-2-methylbenzopyran-4-one with metal ions; Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) are prepared. Different analysis tools like elemental analyses, FTIR, thermal analysis, conductivity, electronic spectra, and magnetic susceptibility measurements are all used to elucidate the struc...

Five transition metal(II) complexes, [ML(2)Cl(2)] 1 approximately 5, were synthesized from the reaction of MCl(2) x nH(2)O (M = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Cd) and the Schiff base ligand 2-[(4-methylphenylimino)methyl]-6-methoxyphenol (C(15)H(15)NO(2), L), obtained by condensation of o-vanillin (2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde) with p-toluidine. They were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conducta...

Hydrazones derivatives of carbonyl compounds constitute an important class of biologically active compounds. Metal complexes of Schiff bases represent an important class of coordination compounds. Schiffs base containing hetero donar atom continue to provide the interesting facts in the fields of coordination chemistry. Literature studies on hydrazones have shown that these derivatives possess ...

Schiff bases and their metal complexes in the mixtures of ionic liquid (IL) + organic solvent have shown great potential in attractive oxidation catalytic processes. The efficiency of such a process is strongly dependent on the various molecular interactions occurring between components. Thermodynamic properties of these systems can provide valuable information about structural interactions. Th...

We aimed to synthesize the phenylhydrazone derivative of 4benzoyl-3-methyl-1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone which is a novel Schiff base. The ligand was synthesized in three stages. 3-methyl-1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone was synthesized as reported in the literature. (Ref. Vogel). This was benzoylated at the 4position to get 4benzoyl-3-methyl-1phenyl-5-pyrazolone (ref. Jesen’s procedure). This was condensed with ...

A novel Schiff base ligand derived from 2,2'-bis(p-methoxyphenylamine) and salicylicaldehyde and its transition metal complexes with Cu (II), Co (II) and Mn (II) have been synthesized. Their spectral properties and electrochemical behavior were investigated.

The reactions of isonitriles with a variety of metalloboryl and metalloborylene species are shown to yield a range of products, none of which display the typical Lewis acid-base reactivity previously observed between such metal complexes and other Lewis bases. Insertions of one, or several, isonitriles into the metal-boron bond give cyclic and spiro compounds with bonding controlled by the elec...
