The present paper is composed by two distinct parts. The first part discusses the role played by population dynamics in the modern theory of economic growth, starting from its classical roots. In the second part we concentrate on one of the major concerns by scholars in demo-economics i.e. the endogenous explanation of the demographic transition. After having reviewed the main results of the re...
Empirical evidence questions fundamental concepts of the human population dynamics. One of the key conclusions of this study is that positive checks activate the efficient Malthusian regeneration mechanism, suggesting that the Epoch of Malthusian Stagnation, the first stage of growth claimed by the Demographic Transition Theory, did not exist.
The demographic transition is an ongoing global phenomenon in which high fertility and mortality rates are replaced by low fertility and mortality. Despite intense interest in the causes of the transition, especially with respect to decreasing fertility rates, the underlying mechanisms motivating it are still subject to much debate. The literature is crowded with competing theories, including c...
a theoretical study of the kinetics and mechanism of second-order intermolecular c.) cloadd it ion of 2-ethyny1-2,3-dihydrofurane and phenyl azide was performed using dft method at 101.111 le) cl of theory with 6-31 preg(d,p) basis set at 298.15k. equilibrium molecular geometries and harmonic ) ihrational frequencies ofthe reactants, transition state, and product were calculated. the kinetic an...
The potential economic returns to the demographic transition are high. As countries move from a steady state with high mortality and high fertility to an equilibrium with low mortality and fewer children, lower dependency ratios, higher investment in human and physical capital as well as increased female labor force participation contribute to economic growth. In this paper, we analyze the demo...
We study the order of the phase transition in the 3d U(1)+Higgs theory, which is the Ginzburg-Landau theory of superconductivity. We confirm that for small scalar self-coupling the transition is of first order. For large scalar self-coupling the transition ceases to be of first order, and a non-vanishing scalar mass suggests that the transition may even be of higher than second order.
Introduction In the latter half of the 20th century, the world population increased unprecedentedly in large part by the population explosion in the developing region. Such population explosion was caused by widening gap between the rapid mortality decline and the persistence of high fertility. When and how fast fertility in the developing region would decline and whether policy intervention is...
It is expected that incorporating the center symmetry in the conventional dimensionally reduced effective theory for high-temperature SU(Nc) Yang-Mills theory, EQCD, will considerably extend its applicability towards the deconfinement transition. The construction of such a centersymmetric effective theory for the case of two colors is reviewed and lattice simulation results are presented. The s...
The glassy states of water are of common interest as the majority of H2O in space is in the glassy state and especially because a proper description of this phenomenon is considered to be the key to our understanding why liquid water shows exceptional properties, different from all other liquids. The occurrence of water's calorimetric glass transition of low-density amorphous ice at 136 K has b...
