Sanyo has originally introduced 6HP two-cylinder rotary compressors for packaged airconditioners in I 985. The concept of two-cylinder rotary compressor has been recently applied to room airconditioners(RACs) for the purpose of reducing vibration and noise of the unit. However. RACs are demanded to decrease the noise by lowering levels of the compressor noise. SanYo has newly developed the quie...

A new multicylinder microchamber reactor is designed on autothermal reforming of methane for hydrogen production, and its performance and thermal behavior, that is, based on the reaction mechanism, is numerically investigated by varying the cylinder radius, cylinder spacing, and cylinder layout. The results show that larger cylinder radius can promote reforming reaction; the mass fraction of me...

In this paper, a novel pneumatic cylinder is proposed, named Magnetic Brake Cylinder. It is composed of a tank, a pneumatic cylinder, and a permanent magnet, and with this, the piston is held by the attractive force of the magnet until the pressure inside the tank is very high, offering a higher driving power than an ordinary cylinder when using the same pressure source. In addition, a control ...

In this paper, the problem of calculating the stress intensity factor (SIF) for an orthotropic thick-walled cylinder with a small radial crack subject to internal pressure is considered. The crack is assumed to be an edge crack on the external radius of the cylinder. The stress intensity factor is calculated by superposition of an uncracked cylinder with uniform stress distribution and a cylind...

Safety analysis has been done for the torsion of a functionally graded thick-walled  circular cylinder under internal and external pressure subjected to thermal loading. In order to determine stresses the concept of Seth’s transition theory based on generalized principal strain measure has been used. This theory simplifies the set of mechanical equations by mentioning the order of the measure of...

Intravaginal rings (IVRs) are currently under investigation as devices for the delivery of agents to protect against the sexual transmission of HIV and STIs, as well as pregnancy. To assist product developers in creating highly acceptable rings, we sought to identify characteristics that intravaginal ring users consider when making decisions about ring use or non-use. We conducted four semi-str...

We investigate the existence, uniqueness, and L-contractivity of weak solutions to a porous medium equation with fractional diffusion on an evolving hypersurface. To settle the existence, we reformulate the equation as a local problem on a semi-infinite cylinder, regularise the porous medium nonlinearity and truncate the cylinder. Then we pass to the limit first in the truncation parameter and ...

The study of a pair of single Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) plasma actuator which is placed on the surface near the apex of a cone-cylinder body with a semi-apex angle of 10° is presented. The two SDBD plasma actuators are aligned on the cone at azimuth angle θ = ±90° symmetrically and sustained by a repetitive high voltage nanosecond pulses generator. The pressure distribution over the te...

Solutions of stress intensity factors for external and internal unpressurized and pressurized surface cracks in internally pressurized thick-walled reactor pressure vessels are determined directly by a three-dimensional displacement-hybrid finite element method. The finite element method is based on a rigorous modified variational principle of the total potential energy, with arbitrary element ...

In this paper, we establish some quantity relationships between the dynamics of circular cylinder wakes and the rotation speed of the cylinder. It has been shown analytically that rotating the cylinder can regularize the flow behavior, and delay the transition from steady flow to turbulent flow. The work needed to overcome the drag exerted on the cylinder is provided.
