Gamow-Teller (GT) transitions in atomic nuclei are sensitive to both nuclear shell structure and effective residual interactions. The nuclear GT excitations were studied for the mass number A = 42, 46, 50, and 54 "f-shell" nuclei in ((3)He, t) charge-exchange reactions. In the (42)Ca → (42)Sc reaction, most of the GT strength is concentrated in the lowest excited state at 0.6 MeV, suggesting th...

The time-dependent local density approximation is applied to the optical response of the silver clusters, Ag2, Ag3, Ag8 and Ag9 . The calculation includes all the electrons beyond the closed-shell Ag+11 ionic core, thus including for the first time explicitly the filled d-shell in the response. The excitation energy of the strong surface plasmon near 4 eV agrees well with experiment. The theore...

background: old laying hens are more prone to dietary calcium (ca) and phosphorus (p) deficiencies as  they absorb ca and p less efficiently than younger hens. objectives: in a 2×2 factorial design, the influence of diets with two levels of available phosphorus (ap) and phytase enzyme on the laying performance, egg quality and tibia bone characteristics of laying hens at their late 2nd producti...

The mechanical behaviour of eggshell membranes under tensile loading has been studied. Samples from diff erent bird species (hen, goose and Japanese quail) have been used. Samples were cut out of the m...

The temperature dependence of the energy centroids and strength distributions for Gamow-Teller (GT) 1+ excitations in several fp-shell nuclei is studied. The quasiparticle random phase approximations (QRPA) is extended to describe GT states at finite temperature. A shift to lower energies of the GT+ strength is found, as compared to values obtained at zero temperature. Typeset using REVTEX ∗Ema...

The fusion evaporation-residue cross sections for 32 S+ 184 W has been mea-246, and 257 MeV using the ATLAS Fragment Mass Analyzer. The data are compared with Statistical Model calculations and it is found that a nuclear dissipation strength, which increases with the excitation energy is required to reproduce the excitation function. A comparison with previously published data show that the dis...

We present a model to explain the origin of local clouds, including the so-called Local Fluff surrounding the solar system. We present observational evidence from ROSAT PSPC data, that manifest the existence of an interaction shell between our local interstellar bubble and the adjacent Loop I superbubble. A linear stability analysis of this compressed interaction shell has been performed. We sh...

Superfine Particles (SP) of soluble eggshell membrane and medical grade polyurethane (MPU) blend nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning different blend ratios of SP/MPU suspensions for regeneration of the natural fiber-like structure of the eggshell membrane. The addition of SP had no obvious effect on the electrospinning process of MPU nanofibers, and the SP were randomly dispersed in the...

Cylindrical shell is a common structural design solution in many engineering fields, such as the foundation supporting structures and buoyant column of offshore wind turbine maritime sector. Operating an ocean environment, these cylindrical need to withstand combination axial compression, bending moment, torsion external pressure. This study contributes parametric investigation for unstiffened ...
